The Jahrbuch für internationale Germanistik, published by Peter Lang and indexed by the Web of Science (Arts and Humanities Index – AHCI) and Book Citation Index (BKCI), invites scholarly contributions for a special issue on Disability in German and English Narratives.
This volume seeks to explore the literary, cultural, and discursive representations of disability in German- and English-language literatures. We welcome contributions that examine how disability is portrayed, constructed, and negotiated in fictional and non-fictional texts across time periods—from early modern literature to contemporary works. Possible areas of focus include but are not limited to: • Literary representations of physical, sensory, or mental disability • Disability in medieval or early modern narratives • Postmodern and posthuman readings of disabled bodies • The intersection of disability with gender, class, race, or religion • Theoretical frameworks from Disability Studies applied to German and English texts • Comparative or transnational perspectives on disability narratives • Inclusion, exclusion, and the normalization of bodies in literature and culture Abstract Submission Deadline: 15 June 2025 Full Text Submission Deadline: 30 October 2025 Planned Publication: Spring 2026 CPC: 60 EUR Please submit abstracts (300–500 words) along with a short bio (100 words) to: [habib.tekin@hotmail.com] |
