Call For Papers

Goal
------------
The annual International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering (ISSRE 2017) is focused on innovative techniques and tools for assessing, predicting, and improving the reliability, safety, and security of software products. ISSRE also emphasizes industrial relevance, rigorous empirical studies and experience reports on existing software systems.

The main research track at ISSRE 2017 is soliciting original, unpublished research papers in three categories: (1) full research (regular) papers, (2) practical experience reports, and (3) wild and provocative ideas (WAP) papers. Papers will be assessed with criteria appropriate to each category. ISSRE looks for works exploring new territory, continuing a significant research, or reflecting on practical experience.

While full research manuscripts should explore a specific technology problem and propose a complete solution to it, with extensive experimental results, practical experience reports are expected to provide an in-depth exposition of practitioner experiences and empirical studies. On the other hand, WAP papers are expected to present less developed but highly innovative ideas related to areas relevant to ISSRE, aiming at inspiring discussion among conference attendees and getting people thinking about open research challenges. WAP papers are not meant to be Fast Abstracts, or shorter (unfinished) research papers.

Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, correctness and (potential) impact.

Authors will have a chance to rebut the reviews over the period of June 29th to July 1st. Authors will have the opportunity to correct, during the rebuttal period, factual inaccuracies in the reviews. After the papers have been reviewed, but prior to the Program Committee meeting, the reviews will be made available to the authors to provide a forum for responding to any factual errors in the reviews. Please note that this is NOT a forum to add any additional information on the paper, to submit an updated or revised paper, or to list changes the authors promise to include in the final version. Author responses will be made available to all PC members before the paper is discussed for selection in the PC meeting.

Formatting guidelines
-----------------------

Papers must be written in English, and be formatted according to the IEEE Computer Society Format Guidelines. Papers that exceed the page limits specified below, or are outside the scope of the symposium, or do not follow the formatting guidelines will be rejected without review.

Abstract length: Upto 200 words

Manuscript page length (all in double column, IEEE conference style format):

Research papers: 10 pages + 2 pages (for references alone)
Experience reports: 10 pages + 2 pages (for references alone)
WAP papers: 6 pages.
Best Research Paper Award

There will be a best paper award given to a paper in the main research track. Both full research papers and practical experience reports are eligible for the award.

ISSRE Topics
The 28th annual International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering (ISSRE 2017) is focused on innovative techniques and tools for assessing, predicting, and improving the reliability, safety, and security of software products. ISSRE also emphasizes industrial relevance, rigorous empirical studies and experience reports on existing software systems.

ISSRE covers a broad range of topics. The list below identifies several, but certainly not all:

Reliability, availability and safety of software systems
Validation and Verification
Faults, errors, failures, defects, bugs
Software quality and productivity
Software security
Dependability, survivability, fault tolerance and resilience of software systems
Systems (hardware + software) reliability engineering
Metrics and measurements, estimation, prediction of quality/reliability
