CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue "Industrial Applications of IoT and Blockchain for Sustainable Environment" A special issue of Big Data and Cognitive Computing (ISSN 2504-2289) by MDPI Publisher Deadline for manuscript submissions: ASAP, no later than 31 August 2024 Web Link: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/BDCC/special_issues/VZX925P85X ===================================================== SPECIAL ISSUE INFORMATION: Dear Colleagues, Modern smart systems are an emerging interdisciplinary field that attempts to balance societal, economic, and environmental resources for the future well-being of humanity. They can make significant contributions to addressing the key societal and environmental challenges faced by humanity in pursuit of a sustainable future. IoT is the cornerstone of modern smart systems, which are now the key driver of sustainable growth in nearly every industrial sector and societal domain. Blockchain has been the critical security mechanism for these IoT-based smart systems due to its distributed and multiple-node nature. Both IoT and blockchain have been well integrated and applied in today’s industries, like smart city, Industry 4.0/5.0, smart energy, smart healthcare, smart transport, etc. Most recently, the cloud-edge-IoT continuum has provided the most effective environment for such smart system to operate. This Special Issue aims to gather the latest advances in IoT, blockchain, cloud-edge-IoT continuum and smart systems, in particular focusing on their innovative values to support the current sustainable industry and economy. In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following: * Internet of things; * Blockchain; * Cyber-physical systems; * Cloud-edge-IoT continuum; * Load balancing in cloud-to-things scheme; * Orchestration in cloud-to-thing scheme; * Smart systems; * Security and privacy of smart systems; * Security in critical infrastructures; * Security in IoT/CPS; * Sustainable computing; * AI-driven smart systems; * Machine learning; * Explainable AI/ML in smart systems; * Semantic data and service modeling; * Data mining; * Data analytics; * Distributed consensus and fault tolerance algorithms; * Blockchain interoperability and cross-chain mechanisms; * Blockchain platforms; * Decentralized app development, DAPPs, and services; * Service-oriented architecture; * Microservices; * Smart contracts and verification; * Transaction monitoring and analysis; * Creation, custody, and exchange of cryptoassets; * Managing the risks of cryptocurrency; * Distributed trust; * Performance and scalability issues. We look forward to receiving your contributions. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form (https://susy.mdpi.com/user/manuscripts/upload/?journal=BDCC). Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website. Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/BDCC/instructions). Big Data and Cognitive Computing (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/BDCC/)is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI. Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
