5TH IOT-HR: WORKSHOP ON INTERNET OF THINGS IN HEALTH RESEARCH
Co-located with IEEE Annual Congress on Artificial Intelligence of Things (IEEE AIoT) Aim and Scope: The IoT-HR Workshop explores the challenges and opportunities of continuous data acquisition from Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, mobile phones, and ambient sensors, for medical research and digital health. While these systems offer rich insights into daily living and physical well-being, critical hurdles remain in integration, data quality, data processing, user adoption, privacy, and clinical validity. The workshop provides a collaborative venue bringing together academic researchers, industry experts, and practitioners to address these core challenges. By identifying innovative strategies and optimizing IoT data usage in health, IoT-HR contributes directly to IEEE AIoT 2026 by expanding its scope into high-impact healthcare and digital well-being applications. Topics: We invite submissions addressing, but not limited to, the following: ● Use of IoT systems for health research ● IoT and electronic Patient-Reported Outcomes (ePRO) / electronic Clinical Outcome Assessment (eCOA) ● IoT-based telehealth and home monitoring systems ● IoT-based Active and Healthy Ageing technologies ● Hardware/software platforms for health research ● Algorithms and methods for gathering clinically relevant knowledge from IoT devices ● Security, privacy, and trust in IoT for health applications ● Clinical trials and pilot studies involving IoT Format: We welcome full research papers, work-in-progress submissions, and demonstration abstracts. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least three TPC members. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop. Paper submission: Manuscript templates can be found at https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html All submissions to IoT-HR must be uploaded to EasyChair at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ieeeaiot2026. Publication: All accepted and presented papers will be submitted to IEEE Xplore. Workshop Chairs: - Filippo Palumbo, CNR, Italy - Dario Salvi, Malmo University, Sweden - Alessandra Angelucci, Politecnico di Milano, Italy Important Dates: Paper Submission deadline: 30th September 2026 HARD DEADLINE Notification deadline: 7nth October 2026 Camera-ready deadline: 21st October 2026 |
