We welcome you to join us in Hiroshima, Japan for the 4th Asian Symposium on the Humanities and Human Rights Education (SHARE 2017), which will coincide with the 72nd Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Remembrance Ceremony.
In addition to the conference, participants will have an opportunity to visit Hiroshima Peace Park and the Shrine Island of Miyajima — both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The human rights landscape today, with its ever-changing peaks and valleys, has made some noteworthy advances in promoting greater access to human rights on a global scale; however, they cannot overshadow the existing violations against humanity that are aggravated through the discrimination and marginalization of peoples. SHARE 2017 will be an opportunity to explore these issues through the lens of the humanities. With the theme New Directions, SHARE 2017 aims to promote a greater understanding of the intersections between the humanities and human rights through peaceful and respectful discussion of the issues. This event is an interdisciplinary platform for academics, researchers, policy makers, human rights advocates, students and professionals. We welcome proposals of 250 words in English on the streams listed below by Friday, June 2, 2017.
