*** European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA 2022) - Combined Call for Contributions ***
Prague (Czech Republic), 19-23 September https://conf.researchr.org/home/ecsa-2022 [The conference is planned as a hybrid conference, with the in-person events taking place in Prague. Please note that there is an option that the conference will go fully online based on the development of the pandemic situation] *** Main Conference *** (full text https://conf.researchr.org/track/ecsa-2022/ecsa-2022-research-papers#Call-for-Papers) ** Important Dates (AoE) ** - Abstract submission: May 6, 2022 - Paper submission: May 13, 2022 - Acceptance notifications: June 17, 2022 - Camera-ready: July 1, 2021 ** Call for Papers ** The European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA) is the premier European software architecture conference, providing researchers, practitioners, and educators with a platform to present and discuss the most recent, innovative, and significant findings and experiences in the field of software architecture research and practice. The 16th European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA 2022) will be held from September 19 to 23, 2022. The special theme for ECSA 2022 is “Software Architectures and Practices for Emerging Technologies and Applications.” We are interested in learning about how software architecture principles and practices are evolving and being applied to address the challenges of emerging technology and applications. This raises questions such as: What are current research and practice results in developing and evolving software architecture principles and practices for systems that include machine learning, quantum computing, blockchain, and other emerging technologies? What are current research and practice results in developing and evolving software architecture principles and practices for emerging applications such as collaborative systems, learning systems, autonomous systems, and other emerging applications? What are good examples and case studies of software architecture in the context of emerging technologies and applications? How have software architecture courses changed to accommodate or take advantage of emerging technologies and applications? Organizers General Co-Chair, Thais Batista, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil General Co-Chair, Tomas Bures, Politecnico di Milano, Czech Republic Program Co-Chair, Ilias Gerostathopoulos, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands Program Co-Chair, Grace A. Lewis, Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute, USA *** Industry Program *** (Full text https://conf.researchr.org/track/ecsa-2022/ecsa-2022-industry-program) ** Important Dates (AoE) ** Full Papers (all deadlines are 23:59 Anywhere on Earth) Abstract submission: May 6, 2022 Paper submission: May 13, 2022 Acceptance notifications: June 17, 2022 Camera-ready versions: July 1, 2022 Short Papers and Presentations, Software Architecture Showcases Paper submission: June 24, 2022 Acceptance notifications: July 29, 2022 Camera-ready versions: Aug 5, 2022 ** Call for Papers ** The Industry Track at ECSA 2022 brings together practicing software architects and software architecture researchers from regional, European, and worldwide communities. We are seeking contributions from industry that share challenges, practical solutions, successful practices, failures, and lessons learned while analyzing, designing, implementing, evaluating, and evolving software architectures. *** Journal First *** (Full text https://conf.researchr.org/track/ecsa-2022/ecsa-2022-journal-first) ** Important Dates (AoE) ** - Abstract Submission: May 6, 2022 - Submission deadline: May 13, 2022 - Notification: Jun 17, 2022 - Camera ready of summary: Jul 1, 2022 ** Call for Papers ** ECSA 2022 opened up a partnership with Journal of Systems and Software (JSS) and IEEE Software to incorporate journal-first papers into its program. Authors of journal-first papers accepted by JSS or IEEE Software since January 2021 are invited to submit their work to be presented at ECSA 2022. This will allow authors of journal-first papers to present their work to the community. *** Tools and Demonstrations *** (full text https://conf.researchr.org/track/ecsa-2022/ecsa-2022-tools---demos#Call-for-Papers) ** Important Dates (AoE) ** - Paper submission: July 1, 2022 - Author notification: July 29, 2022 - Camera-ready version: August 5th, 2022 ** Call for Papers ** The 16th European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA 2022) Tools and Demonstrations (Tools&Demos) Track provides an opportunity for both researchers and practitioners to present and discuss the most recent advances, ideas, experiences, and challenges in the field of Software Architecture by means of Tools&Demos presentations. ECSA 2022 is planned as a hybrid event (with the option to go fully online if required). *** Workshops&Tutorials *** (full text https://conf.researchr.org/track/ecsa-2022/ecsa-2022-workshops-tutorials) *** Important Dates (AoE) *** - Workshop/tutorial proposals due: March 25, 2022 - Notification of Workshop/tutorial proposals: April 01, 2022 - Workshop/tutorial webpages up: April 08, 2022 - Workshop papers due: July 1, 2022 - Notification of workshops papers: July 29, 2022 - Workshop papers camera-ready: August 5th, 2022 - Workshop/tutorial summaries camera-ready: August 5th, 2022 - Workshop/tutorial: September 19-20, 2022 ** Call for Papers ** Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals for workshops and tutorials held in conjunction with ECSA 2022. Workshops and tutorials will be held on 19 and 20 of September 2022 (right before the main conference on 21-23 September 2022). ECSA workshops provide an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to exchange and explore innovative software architecture (scientific or engineering) ideas and challenges at an early stage. In addition, ECSA edition 2022 hosts tutorials on topics related to software architecture from theoretical foundations to practical applications. Tutorials at ECSA provide a valuable opportunity for conference participants to expand their knowledge and skills in specific research and practical topics under the umbrella of software architecture. *** Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) *** (full text https://conf.researchr.org/track/ecsa-2022/ecsa-2022-diversity--equity-and-inclusion--de-i-) ** Important Dates (AoE) ** - Paper submission: July 1, 2022 - Author notification: July 29, 2022 - Camera-ready version: August 5th, 2022 ** Call for Papers ** It has been widely demonstrated that diversity in gender, culture, religion, country, etc. is a key factor to have success and be competitive and innovative in software development. Setting up diverse teams in ICT organizations, including companies, universities, and research centers, is necessary, but still hard to realize in practice, even if all recognize the importance of promoting equal opportunities and inclusion for the success of projects. This challenge is particularly important in the context of software architecture, which requires intensive interactions in the development teams, and communication with other teams and stakeholders. In this scenario, following the success of the past editions, the 7th special track on "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I)" (previously Gender Diversity in Software Architecture & Software Engineering) is part of the 16th premier European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA 2022). DE&I will provide a forum for discussions about how to achieve more diversity and promote equity and inclusion in software architecture research and practice. *** Doctoral Symposium *** (Full text https://conf.researchr.org/track/ecsa-2022/ecsa-2022-doctoral-symposium) ** Important Dates (AoE) ** - Research Summary and Letter Recommendation Submission: 15 June 2021 - Author Notification: 7 July 2022 - Camera-ready version: 15 July 2022 ** Call for Papers ** The goal of the Doctoral Symposium is to provide a supportive setting in which PhD. students can present and receive feedback on their research. During the symposium, PhD students will interact closely with established researchers in the field; receive feedback on their research and get advice on managing their research. The symposium will also help participants to establish a network with their peers in the field of software architecture. The program will feature a keynote that will shed light on the particular challenges of doing PhD research in the field of software architecture.
