Book Objectives

Today’s advance in cloud computing provides significant benefits to mobile users as cloud infrastructures and platforms that provide large-scale computing power with elastic scalability and higher resource sharing and usage. In the recent years, the first generation mobile clouds, known as personal mobile clouds, have provided diverse personal services and benefits to mobile users in data, storage, social networks. People have learned that leveraging current cloud infrastructures and technologies can overcome traditional limitations in mobile computing, such as limited mobile computing power, storage spaces, and software services.
The recent significant increase of mobile subscriptions bring many business opportunities and research interests due to the rapid advance in mobile computing and wireless technology and networking. In 2014, IEEE Computer Society has listed mobile cloud computing as the top one technology trend. According to the latest Visiongain report, “the mobile cloud computing market will generate 45 billion dollars in revenues by 2016.

This book project is set up to provide a platform for the researchers in mobile cloud computing community to publish and report the recent advances in mobile cloud computing and services. The major objectives include the followings:
-Provide a snapshot on research advances of mobile cloud computing and services
-Discuss issues, solutions, challenges, and needs in mobile cloud computing and services
-Present a comprehensive coverage on different types of mobile clouds and services
-Report mobile cloud engineering experience and lessons as well as industry case studies

Both novice and expert readers as well as graduate students should find this book a useful reference in the field of mobile cloud computing and services.
