TTT2027 Vienna: Call for Papers, Artist Talks and Artwork Presentations
7th Interdisciplinary Conference Taboo – Transgression – Transcendence in Art & Science 14–17 September 2027 University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte), Austria Submission deadline: 11 November 2026 The Call for Proposals for the 7th Interdisciplinary Conference Taboo – Transgression – Transcendence in Art & Science (TTT2027 Vienna) is open. The conference will take place from 14 to 17 September 2027 at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte), Austria, with the support of Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) and the inter-university Art x Science School for Transformation. First held in 2016 at Ionian University in Corfu, Greece, TTT is an international, nomadic, interdisciplinary conference dedicated to critical dialogue across art, science, technology, and society. It brings together researchers, scholars, artists, curators, and practitioners to examine established conventions, emerging practices, and the boundaries of knowledge. TTT2027 Vienna takes the placenta as both a biological reference and a conceptual framework for exploring relationality, temporality, care, and mutual dependency. Suggested topics include feminist, queer, and trans practices of care; reproductive justice and bodily autonomy; bioart and biotechnology; artificial and artistic intelligence; creative labour and artistic autonomy; ecological repair; symbiosis and more-than-human relations; biopolitics; and economies of care. Scholars in Communication and Media Studies are explicitly welcome to submit proposals, particularly interdisciplinary contributions engaging with the intersections of communication, media, technology, artistic practices, culture, bodies, and society. Submissions are invited in three categories: Research Papers Artist Talks Artwork Presentations Contributors are invited to submit an abstract or project description of up to 300 words through the official online submission platform by 11 November 2026. Proposals will be reviewed by the international TTT Scientific-Artistic Committee. English is the working language of the conference. TTT2027 remains a free conference. No payment from authors is required to submit proposals or participate. There are no registration or participation fees for presenters or attendees. Financial support for travel and accommodation is not guaranteed.
