REM 2014
"15th International Workshop on Research and Education in Mechatronics 9-11 September 2014" Dear/ Colleague Greetings from El-Gouna, Hurgada, Egypt; http://www.elgouna.com/. Your kindly invited to submit your original research paper to our International conference "REM 2014", www.zu.edu.eg/rem2014 . This event is promoted by the International Network of Mechatronics Universities (www.mechatronics-net.de). The 15th International Workshop on Research and Education in Mechatronics is a well established event in the field of research and education in Mechatronics. Experts from many different countries will come together to exchange their knowledge and experience with colleagues. REM is the basis for new networks and cooperation in R&D and in Mechatronics engineers education. We hope to give you an opportunity for further cooperation, e.g. students and university professors exchange in addition to useful University/Industry linking. Conference Tracks: 1- Mechatronics systems • Actuators, sensors, components and systems • Control (motion, robots, vibration, remote) • Supervision, diagnostic, safety and reliability • Software and embedded systems • Materials for mechatronics • Co-operating systems • Robotics, parallel kinematics • Mechatronics measurement techniques • Vision systems • Sensors network, control area network • Smart materials (piezoelectricity…) 2-Methodologies, Tools and languages • Mathematics for mechatronics • Preliminary design -• Modeling (metaphysics, hybrid approach…) • Simulation, virtual prototyping - • System engineering • Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification • Formal Specification and Verification • Life Cycle Analysis -• Sustainability for mechatronics products • Mechatronics standardization 3-Education and learning • Mechatronics basics • Project based learning • Internet based learning • New mechatronics courses. • Postgraduate study in Mechatronics (Tailored Courses- Ms, – PhD) • Life Long learning in Mechatronics. • Internationalization of study course • Mechatronics labs. 4-Industrial Applications • Transportation industry (automotive, electro mobility, • aerospace, railways, drone (unmanned airplanes) , submarine, avionics…) • Energy systems (wind energy, photovoltaic, fuel cells…) • Automation (robot systems, assembly…) • Medical and bio-mechatronics (assistant systems, • micro-mechatronics…) • Consumer goods • Micro and Nano-mechatronics (systems, production…) • Haptic, human augmentative and rehabilitation • equipment • Artificial intelligence applications 5-Special Sessions #1: Recent Advances on Mechatronics Systems for Humanitarian Demining: It is estimated that there are 110 million land mines in the ground right now; one for every 52 inhabitants of the planet. An equal amount is in stockpiles waiting to be planted or destroyed. Egypt has been listed as the country most contaminated by landmines in the world with an estimate of approximately 20% of the total landmines worldwide. This special session will be designated for reporting recent research results in mechatronics systems for humanitarian demining, their challenging problems and their applicability especially in developing countries. Dr. Alaa Khamis, from Suez University, is organizing this session. Topics include but are not limited to: • Landmine and Unexploded Ordinances Detection Sensors and Systems • Mechanical tools and systems for mine detection and clearance • Remote controlled excavators • Loader-based demining systems • All-terrain Locomotion Systems • Unmanned Ground Vehicles • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles • Autonomous Systems • Multi-robot Systems • Multi-sensor data fusion • Airborne Remote Sensing and Remote Sensing for Humanitarian Demining • Mechatronics Systems for Humanitarian Underwater Demining • Minefield Reconnaissance and Mapping 6-Special Sessions #2: Industry/ University Networking. The gap between Industry and Academia in developed countries like Egypt & Jordan is enormous. This special session is aiming at integrating individual sincere efforts in these two countries and the experience in advanced nations to contribute in bridging this gap. The outcome of the session is aimed at launching two local Mechatronics Industry/ University associations in both Egypt & Jordan. Prof.Dr. Martin Löffler-Mang from HTW des Saarlande; Germany is organizing this session. Topics in the session may include but not limited to:- • Industry / University Networking (National & International, Experience, Recommendations, and Legal issues) • Industry/ University Interaction, Mutual Benefits for Education, Research and Development • Industry/University cooperation for promoting young people potential and supporting their innovations, Technological incubation, and Supporting students on their way to the labor market. Looking forward seeing you @ El-Gouna, Hurgada, Egypt. Regards; Prof. Yehia Hendawy Hossamel-din |
