1st IEEE Workshop on MEC-IoT integration for 5G (MEC-IoT-5G)
Co-located with the 2018 IEEE 1st 5G World Forum (5GWF’18) in Santa Clara, California on July 9-11, 2018 http://sites.ieee.org/wf-5g/workshop-on-mec-iot-integration-for-5g/ ===================================================================== Submission Deadline: 15 March 2018 ===================================================================== The role of MEC (Multi-Access Edge Computing) in IoT (Internet of Things) realization becomes apparent, more so the role of both MEC and IoT (MEC-IoT) technologies towards the evolution to 5G. The success of MEC-IoT still requires tackling many key challenges at the edge nodes, e.g., resource management, network connectivity and scalability, energy efficiency, middleware, security, privacy, trust, service management, societal impact, etc. This workshop will elaborate and emphasize the key aspects of MEC-IoT evolution in many applications, and will provide the opportunity for the researchers across the globe to share their latest research works on emerging MEC-IoT. Within its scope, the special session solicits research and industry papers identifying research and engineering challenges in MEC-IoT and their solutions on following topics but not limited to: o Current and future trends in mobile edge computing (MEC) o Resource allocation and management challenges in MEC and IoT o Distributed mobile applications utilizing MEC and IoT o Performance evaluation of IoT and MEC test beds o Consumer centric IoT applications and services using MEC platforms o M2M data processing, management and storage at MEC platforms o Virtualization of MEC functionalities o Cloud RAN and MEC Towards 5G o MEC offloading and caching o NFV-based MEC in 5G o Energy-efficient MEC for 5G o Security, privacy and trust in IoT and MEC o IoT and MEC applications and services o Software architecture, programming model and service provisioning in IoT and MEC o Current and future trends in MEC and IoT o Resource allocation and management challenges in MEC and IoT o Distributed mobile applications utilizing MEC and IoT o Performance evaluation metrics IoT and MEC o Testbeds for IoT and MEC o Standardization efforts and initiatives for MEC and IoT Authors should submit their papers online via EDAS system (EDAS Link: https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=23875&track=90514). Further instructions are posted at http://ieee-wf-5g.org/workshop-on-mec-iot-integration-for-5g/. Papers will be fully peer reviewed. If the paper is accepted and presented, it will be included in the conference proceedings and be submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
