Welcome to the 22nd International Conference on Wear of Materials, which will take place in Miami, Florida, USA from the 14-18 April 2019.

The conference will focus on advances in the understanding of both the fundamental and applied aspects of wear and friction of materials and will provide a progressive international forum for researchers and practicing engineers from different disciplines to interact and exchange their latest understandings. The conference is also unique for its paper submission process with full peer review in collaboration with the Elsevier journal Wear to ensure technical quality of presentations.

Special sessions will concentrate on engine tribology, wear of tools and tooling materials, friction and wear under vibratory contact, marine applications, role of third bodies during wear, and surface texturing for wear reduction.

Abstract submission

Abstract Submission Deadline: 31 May 2018

Authors are invited to submit a standard format abstract for either of the two paper types described below, via the online abstract submission system.

If preferred, authors also have the opportunity to present their work at the conference in the form of a poster.

Three types of contributions that fit the conference scope are invited:
(1) full-length research-quality papers that include rationale for the work, sufficient characterization of materials and test methods and analysis of findings and mechanisms.
(2) case studies that describe effective engineering solutions to practical wear problems or the development of useful, new wear testing methods.
(3) engaging posters that address a specific tribological topic that has academic or industrial relevance to WOM attendees and the greater tribology community.

All categories will be reviewed for quality and conference relevance, with the paper submissions undergoing full peer review for technical quality.
