=============================================================================== Call for Papers: Special Issue on Bio-Inspired Biclustering Algorithms and Their Applications International Journal of Natural Computing Research (IJNCR) Journal website: http://www.igi-global.com/journal/international-journal-natural-computing-research/1148 Special Issue Call for Papers: http://goo.gl/s2VvIh =============================================================================== Biclustering, also known as Co-Clustering and Two-way Clustering, is the process of concurrently clustering the objects and features of a data set. This problem can be solved by different formulations, such as finding subsets of rows and columns that express a correlation among its elements, partitioning the data as a checkerboard structure in matrices or reordering the elements of the data set while maximizing the smoothness of transition between sequence of rows and columns. This class of algorithms became popular with the application to Gene Expression Analysis and, more than a decade later, it was applied to a range of different applications such as Recommendation Systems, Text Mining, Image Clustering, and many more. This problem is usually solved by means of meta-heuristics approaches, since it is known to be NP-complete and most of its applications impose several constraints and conflicting objectives. The aim of this Special Issue is to publish recent developments of Bio-Inspired Biclustering Algorithms, Information Theoretic Approaches, review the possible formulations to this problem and its implications, and explore the wide range of possible applications to these approaches. Topics • Proposal of new bio-inspired biclustering algorithms; • Review of different formulations to the biclustering problem; • Study different conflicting objectives to this problem; • Investigate Information Theoretic Approaches and Hybridization with Bio-Inspired techniques; • Case study and comparison of biclustering approaches; • Real-world applications of biclustering algorithms.
