Call for Chapters: Handbook of Research on Innovative Database Query Processing Techniques

Introduction

Databases are designed to support data storage, processing, and retrieval activities related to data management. The wide usage of databases in various applications has resulted in an enormous wealth of data, which populate a great variety of databases around the world. One can find many types of database systems, for example, relational databases, object-oriented databases, object-relational databases, deductive databases, parallel databases, distributed databases, multidatabase systems, Web databases, XML databases, multimedia databases, temporal/spatial databases, spatiotemporal databases, and uncertain databases. Recently some new databases are emerging, for example, NoSQL and NewSQL for big data management, RDF databases for metadata ?management, ontology bases for knowledge management in the Semantic Web, and so on. Nowadays databases have become the repositories of large volumes of data. So it is very critical to deal with the enormity and retrieve the worth information for effective problem solving and decision making. It is especially true when a variety of database types, data types and users’ requirements as well as large volumes of data are available. Database queries are the fields which must be investigated by academic researchers together with developers and users both from database and industry areas.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before September 15, 2014, a 2-3 pages chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by September 16, 2014 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by October 15, 2014. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
