Voicing the Alternative
Seventh International Conference on English Language and Literary Studies September 22 – 24, 2011 Faculty of Philosophy, Nikšić, Montenegro We invite scholars to join us in the consideration of the intriguing issue of alternative voices through examples from the field of Anglo-American literature, linguistic and cultural studies. We suggest addressing various alternative processes and techniques outside the traditional mainstream in general, alternative styles in literature, alternative genres, a variety of subcultures existing along the fringes of mainstream culture, alternative theories, alternative education practices, etc, as well as the processes involved in the creation of a non-conformist, avant-garde, forward-thinking voices, finally addressing to what extent it is possible to be independent on the norm. Our key-note lectures will be renowned scholars Susan S. Lanser, Professor of English, Women’s and Gender Studies and Comparative Literature at the Brandeis University, and Craig S. Womack, one of the leading Native American scholars, who presently teaches at the Emory University, USA. The deadline for applications is June 1, 2011.
