Topics & Main Tracks
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

AdHoc-Now has become a well-known and well-established event dedicated to wireless and mobile computing. It aims to bring together Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) experts from research institutions, academia, and industry, as well as start-ups and investors. The event also serves as a forum for interesting discussions on ongoing research and novel contributions in the context of wireless and mobile computing.

The AdHoc-Now 2020 organization team seeks original contributions as work in progress, experimental, and theoretical research in wireless sensor, ad‐hoc, mobile and satellite communication systems. Among the selected topics, there will be three special tracks:

- Smart Mobility
- Internet of Medical Things
- Wireless & Softwarization

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Smart mobility
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Transportation represents a cornerstone sector that aims at improving the quality of a citizen’s life in smart cities. As well-known, its current evolution is rapidly moving towards a disruptive mobility landscape. In this context, the research on wireless communication and mobile computing is called to formulate new or optimized solutions for smart mobility, while addressing many challenging applications and services (including, electric, green and autonomous driving, intelligent transport, safety, smart parking, payment and traffic light management, sharing of transportation means, just to name a few).

The smart mobility special track focuses on (but not be limited to) the following topics:
Novel network architecture for future urban mobility systems
Optimized, secure, configurable, and energy-efficient communication protocols for smart mobility
Interoperability among heterogeneous technologies (IoT, V2X, 5G, B5G, and so on)
Machine learning approaches applied to smart mobility
Experimental testbed and demo on recent advancements in the smart mobility domain

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Internet of Medical Things
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Internet of Medical Things is merging as a new communication paradigm for a collection of medical devices and applications, connected to remote (and potentially distributed) healthcare informatics systems through the Internet. Its pervasive diffusion is promoted by the massive usage of smart and wearable devices and IoT communication technologies in the healthcare domain. In this context, wireless and mobile computing will cover a fundamental rule for the end-device connectivity, supporting tele-assistance, and tele-rehabilitation, clinical decision support systems, effective management of health emergencies, and many other medical services.

The Internet of Medical Things special track focuses on (but not be limited to) the following topics:

Network architectures for disease management and assistive technologies for e-health and in-hospital scenarios
Implanted and on-body networked smart objects
Optimal and energy-efficient communication protocols for diagnostic, prognostic and recuperation IoT devices
Security and Privacy in Internet of Medical Things
Experimental testbed and demo on recent advancements in the Internet of Medical Things

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Wireless & softwarization
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Future network architectures must ensure high levels of flexibility on both data and control planes, as well as support dynamic management of virtual network facilities. The research in this direction already achieved important milestones for the core network, mainly based on the joint adoption of Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and Network Slicing. Today, such a trend is deeply embracing edge and wireless access network. In this context, the softwarization paradigm promises to support the design of flexible, configurable, but also secure Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) facilities, access networks based on heterogeneous Radio Access Technologies (RATs), multiple spectrum bands, multiple types of devices, and so on.

The wireless softwarization special track focuses on (but not be limited to) the following topics:

Novel network architectures and communication protocols for software-defined mobile/wireless networks
Network slice, service management, and multi-tenancy in softwarized networks
Mobile Edge Computing and network softwarization
Integration of Software-Defined Networking and Software-Defined Radio
Testbed, use cases, and applications highlighting the potential of software-defined mobile/wireless networks
