Call for Workshop Proposals Diagrams 2020 11th International Conference on the Theory and Application of Diagrams http://www.diagrams-conference.org/2020/ Conference dates: 24-28 August 2020 Location: Tallinn, Estonia ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Diagrams is an international interdisciplinary conference series, covering all aspects of research on the theory and application of diagrams. We invite proposals for half-day or full-day workshops. These workshops will be held both before and after the main conference, and take place at the main conference venue. Workshops are expected to address topics that are of interest to the Diagrams 2020 conference attendees. These include, but are not limited to, the following: * applications of diagrams, * computational models of reasoning with, and interpretation of, diagrams, * design of diagrammatic notations, * diagram understanding by humans or machines, * diagram aesthetics and layout, * educational uses of diagrams, * evaluation of diagrammatic notations, * graphical communication and literacy, * heterogeneous notations involving diagrams, * history of diagrammatic notations, * information visualization using diagrams, * nature of diagrams and diagramming, * novel technologies for diagram use, * philosophy of diagrams (see the Philosophy of Diagrams special call), * psychological issues pertaining to diagrams (see the Psychology of Diagrams special call), * reasoning with diagrams, * semiotics of diagrams, * software to support the use of diagrams, and * usability and human-computer interaction issues concerning diagrams. A single page listing a. the title of the workshop b. the names and contact information for all organizers c. a brief biography of the main organizer 2. A description of the topic and rationale for the workshop, including a brief description of why the workshop will be relevant to Diagrams 2020 conference attendees. 3. A Call for Participation document of up to 500 words that can be used to advertise the workshop on the Diagrams 2020 conference website. Workshop organizers are expected to distribute their call for papers and solicite papers for submission. Workshop organisers must ensure that paper submission deadlines are at least two weeks after those for the main conference. In addition, they are encouraged to set submission deadlines after the notification date for Diagram 2020 papers (i.e. April 24, 2020).
