CALL FOR PAPERS Med-Hoc-Net 2011 The 10th IFIP Annual Mediterranean Ad Hoc Networking Workshop http://netlab.cs.ucla.edu/medhoc2011 June 12-15, 2011 Favignana Island, Sicily, Italy OVERVIEW -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wireless ad hoc networks have attracted the attention of the research community in the last several years. Now that the fundamental issues and challenges have been clearly assessed, the focus is partially shifting to new issues, which include application scenarios (road safety, disaster recovery, sensors, actuators, etc.), data-centric operation, autonomous organization, optimization and control, ability to retain operation under intermittent connectivity, and service creation and support. Moreover, new and exciting challenges are posed by closely related networks such as wireless mesh networks, sensor networks, and vehicular networks, delay tolerant and opportunistic networks. Finally, the today's market explosion of smart phones is creating new opportunities for social networks, whose thorough understanding requires to combine opportunistic networking aspects with comprehension of social behavior and mobility patterns. Med-Hoc-Net is a major annual international workshop, aiming to serve as a platform for researchers and visionaries from academia, research labs, and industry. Following Sicily (2006), Corfu (2007), Palma de Mallorca (2008), Haifa (2009), and Juan-les-pins (2010), Med-Hoc-Net 2011 will take place in Favignana Island (Italy). TOPICS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The papers solicited cover a variety of topics related to ad hoc, wireless, sensor, mesh, delay tolerant, and opportunistic networks, including but not limited to: -Routing algorithms and protocols -MAC protocols, scheduling, power control, and resource allocation -Transport layer protocols for multi-hop networks -Middleware for ad hoc networks -Application driven architectures and protocols -Sensor network applications and protocols -Vehicular networks -Cognitive radio networks -Integration of ad hoc networks with wireless access networks -Implementations, testbeds, and prototypes -Technology related issues (IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, ZigBee, IEEE 802.16, etc.) -Self organization and network reconfiguration -Optimization models and algorithms -Resource and service discovery -Use of advanced antenna technologies (MIMO, beam forming, etc.) -Security and privacy -Delay tolerant networks -Exploitation of social and mobility patterns for opportunistic networking -Mobile social networks -Security and privacy -Participatory and urban sensing -Underwater wireless networks IMPORTANT DATES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Papers Due: February 18, 2011 Notification of Acceptance: March 30, 2011 Camera-Ready Version due: April 25, 2011 Conference Dates: June 12-15, 2011 CONFERENCE CHAIRS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Giuseppe Bianchi - University of Roma Tor Vergata Mario Gerla - University of California, Los Angeles PROGRAM CHAIRS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Khaled Boussetta - University of Paris 13 Dario Maggiorini - University of Milano Tommaso Melodia - SUNY, Buffalo Liviu Iftode - Rutgers University Falko Dressler - University of Erlangen PAPER SUBMISSION -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paper submission guidelines will be announced soon Please visit conference website for more information. http://netlab.cs.ucla.edu/medhoc2011/ |
