VECPAR 2012
10th International Meeting on High-Performance Computing for Computational Science July 17th-20th, 2012, Kobe, Japan RIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science (AICS) http://nkl.cc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/VECPAR2012/ VECPAR provides an opportunity for researchers and practitioners in branches of science that require computer modeling and simulation to get together and discuss techniques and technologies that can contribute to the effective analysis of complex systems and physical phenomena. VECPAR seeks to engage participants from academia, research laboratories and industry to address pressing issues in computational science resulting from applications of interest to society and hardware innovations. 10th anniversary VECPAR meeting in 2012 is the first one in Asia since 1993. We are very excited because VECPAR 2012 will be held at the RIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science (AICS) (http://www.aics.riken.jp/), where the K computer is under installation. Although K will start its operation in November 2012, it is already ranked top of TOP 500 list (http://www.top500.org) in June 2011. Its final LINPACK performance will be more than 10 PFLOPS, while current performance is 8.162 PFLOPS. Important Dates - Deadline for proposals for tutorials: December 23, 2011 - Deadline for submission of extended abstracts: December 23, 2011 - Notification of acceptance: February 17, 2012 - Deadline for final papers: May 11, 2012 Topics of Interest Interested participants are invited to submit contributions on the following topics: - large scale simulations in CS&E - parallel and distributed computing - numerical algorithms for CS&E - multiscale and multiphysics problems - data intensive computing - imaging and graphics - performance analysis Confirmed Invited Speakers - Horst Simon (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA) - Richard Vuduc (Georgia Institute of Technology, USA) - Takashi Furumura (The University of Tokyo, Japan) - Ryutaro Himeno (RIKEN, Japan) - Yoshinobu Kuramashi (University of Tsukuba/RIKEN, Japan) - Kenji Ono (The University of Tokyo, Japan) - Atsuhi Oshiyama (The University of Tokyo, Japan) Steering Committee - Michel Daydé (ENSEEIHT, France) - Chair - Álvaro Coutinho (COPPE/UFRJ, Brazil) - Jack Dongarra (University of Tennessee, USA) - Inês Dutra (University of Porto, Portugal) - José Fortes (University of Florida, USA) - Vicente Hernandez (Technical University of Valencia, Spain) - Osni Marques (Lawrence Berkeley Natl.
