Aims and Scope
==============

With the advent of technologies like DNA sequencing and DNA microarray, an enormous amount of information has been generated that can only be efficiently analyzed with computers. As the information becomes ever larger and more complex, more computational tools are needed to sort through the data. These include:

* Development of computational methodologies to perform systematic studies of complex interactions in biological systems to enable discovery of new emergent properties that may arise from the integrated systemic view.
* Development of new algorithms and statistics to assess biological information, such as relationships among members of very large data sets.
* Development and implementation of tools that enable efficient access and management of different types of information, such as various databases, integrated mapping information.
* Visualization of various types of biological data to aid in analysis and interpretation of nucleotide and amino acid sequences, protein domains, and protein structures.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* Modeling and simulation of biological processes, pathways, networks, and so on
* Mathematical and quantitative models of cellular and multicellular systems
* Synthetic biological systems
* Molecular evolution and phylogeny
* Functional genomics
* Proteomics
* Metabolomics and other omics
* DNA, RNA and protein sequence analysis
* Structural bioinformatics
* Gene expression analysis
* Biomarker discovery
* Disease classification
* Parallel and Grid computing
* Image and signal analysis
* Qualitative biological model
* Biological network reconstruction and analysis
* Biological databases
* Bio-ontology
* Bio-data visualization
* Medical and biomedical informatics
* Drug discovery and validation
* Discrete/stochastic modeling and language frameworks

Paper Submission
================

The CSBio 2010 online submission system is opened at EasyChair (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=csbio2010).

Prospective authors are invited to submit original, high quality manuscripts of up to twelve (12) A4-pages electronically. The submission must conform to the Springer LNCS format (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-7-72376-0). All accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of CSBio 2010. Extended version of selected papers will be invited for publication in special issues of international journals after the conference.

All submissions will be checked by VeriGuide/VeriConf for originality.

Journal versions of selected papers from the conference proceedings will be invited to the following journals:

Algorithms for Molecular Biology (BioMed Central)
Memetic Computing (Springer) - "Memetic Algorithms in Bioinformatics"

Collocated Conference
=====================

The 4th International Conference on Advances in Information Technology (IAIT 2010 - www.iait-conf.org) will be collocated with The 1st International Conference on Computational Systems-Biology and Bioinformatics (CSBio 2010) in Bangkok, Thailand. IAIT 2010 features a keynote speech from Foong Sew Bun, an IBM Distinguished Engineer, on the theme of "Smarter Planet Initiatives".
