European Wireless Technology Conference 2010
Paris, September 27-28, 2010 The third European Wireless Technology (EuWiT) Conference will be held from September 27 - 28, 2010 in Paris, France, as part of the European Microwave Week. The conference is the principal forum for the presentation of new developments in the fi eld of wireless techniques and technologies for communication, broadcasting, sensing, positioning and navigation applications. It covers the different aspects of technology for wireless systems: applications and standards, systems and signal processing, antenna and propagation, key architectures and sub-systems for base stations and mobile terminals. EuWiT is a conference co-sponsored by EuMA and the IEEE MTT Society. It attracts international experts from academic and industrial backgrounds to discuss recent advances in the wireless technology arena. Wireless Technology is a very dynamic fi eld of research and innovation. MIMO and OFDM techniques have emerged as enabling technologies for 4G communication systems. They have also generated new challenges in terms of transmitter architectures with good effi ciency and linearity, and in terms of the integration of MIMO transceiver and antennas in mobile user terminals. Smart everyday objects incorporating sensors, wireless communication and positioning devices, are supporting many new applications such as environment monitoring, machine-to-machine communications and body area networks. Their development is the subject of intensive research on topics such as autonomous communicant sensors, wireless cooperative systems, electromagnetic modelling of complex environments. Some other challenges are cognitive radio, millimetre wave mobile communications with low power consumption, modelling of non stationary channels for vehicular communications. EuWiT is a unique interdisciplinary conference providing the opportunity for researchers and product developers from all over the world to update and share their knowledge. Authors are encouraged to submit high-quality papers describing original contributions in a wide range of topics in wireless communications. The conference is an integral part of the European Microwave Week. Along with the key areas of wireless activity, the microwave as well as the integrated circuit aspects of wireless technology will be emphasised. There will also be joint sessions with other European Microwave Conferences covering subject matters of mutual interest. The Conference will feature world-class plenary speakers, focused sessions on hot topics in wireless communications, workshops and short courses. Proposals for focused sessions should be submitted before November 30, 2009 to the Workshop Chairman. EuWiT Prize The EuWIT Technical Programme Committee and the EuMW Steering Committee will award the EuWiT Prize of € 3,000 to the author(s) of the best contributed paper to the EuWiT 2010. EuWiT Young Engineers Prize The EuWiT Technical Programme Committee and the EuMW Steering Committee will award the Young Engineer Prize of € 2,000 to a young engineer or researcher who has presented an outstanding paper at the European Conference on Wireless Technology. To be eligible candidates must be (1) aged 30 or younger at the date of the award, (2) the fi rst author of the paper, (3) the presenter either of an oral or poster session. The number of co-authors should not exceed three. Applicants must state the citation to witch the award will make reference. The successful applicant may use part of the prize to fund attendance at the following year’s European Wireless Technology Conference. Reduced Fees and Special Grants Reduced fees are implemented for students as well as senior persons aged 65 years or more. The European Microwave Association will also provide up to 10 student grants consisting of € 500. Applications should be sent to the EuMC Chair by May 16, 2010. The European Microwave Association will also provide a number of grants for delegates coming from Newly Independant States, Russia and from low-income countries. The value of the grant is € 500 and a reduced registration fee for the EuMC. Applications should be sent to the EuMC Chair by May 16, 2010.
