Call For Papers

Welcome to the LCN web site! A particular welcome to those who are new to the IEEE LCN conference and this web site. You can find information on past LCN conferences in our "Prior LCN conferences" section. Nonetheless, a cordial welcome to our regular guests of LCN — both past authors/presenters as well as attendees just listening to LCN activities.

The IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks, sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society, is one of the networking industry's oldest, continuously running conferences. The LCN focuses on practical, leading-edge applications and research in the area of computer networks. It has an informal, workshop-style atmosphere, offering significant opportunity for speakers, panelists, and attendees to spend unstructured time together. The papers presented at the LCN are subject to thorough peer review and are published in the LCN Proceedings (online available via IEEE Xplore). Attendees come from around the world, including North America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim. Both industry and academia are well represented. Topics of paper sessions include high-speed networking, high-performance protocols, local, metropolitan, and wide area networks, internetworking, network and protocol design, wireless networks, routing and switching, multimedia, networks, networking to/at home and office, security, object oriented communications, distributed systems, and real-time networks. Keynote speakers in past years include Fred Baker, Hari Balakrishnan, Raouf Boutaba, Ken Christensen, Dave Clark, Alan Crouch, Chip Elliott, Denton Gentry, Dev Vrat Gupta, Geoff Huston, Bob Ianucci, Raj Jain, Alberto Leon-Garcia, Stephen Kent, Edward Knightly, Peter Newman, Donal O’Mahony, Craig Partridge, Charles Perkins, Radia Perlman, Larry Roberts, Howard Salwen, Rich Seifert, David Skellern, Tim Wild, and Stephen Wolff.

In 1998, LCN started to move from its long standing location of Minneapolis (Minnesota, USA) to different locations all over the world, including cities in Europe and Australia.

LCN 2010 is the 35th meeting of this conference. After its recent visit to Canada and Europe, LCN is returning back to the United States. The beautiful and culturally rich city of Denver has been chosen as venue. We are looking forward to an exciting, vibrant assembly in our venue and again welcome both past and new attendees.
