======================================================================================

The IEEE CIS Task Force on Machine Learning and the EUSFLAT working group on Machine Learning and Data Mining (DAMI) are organizing a special session as part of WCCI 2010. The objective of the special session is to provide a forum for the discussion of recent advances in the application of computational intelligence methods and technology to machine learning problems, and to offer an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to identify new promising research directions.

If you are interested in participating, please, send a tentative title and authors to daniel@decsai.ugr.es no later than December 7, 2009.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to the application of computational intelligence methods in

- data preprocessing
- feature extraction and selection
- handling of incomplete and heterogeneous data
- human-machine interaction
- incorporation of background knowledge
- active learning
- learning predictive models
- ordered, hierarchical and multi-label classification
- preference learning and ranking
- kernel-based methods
- ensemble methods
- incremental learning and learning on data streams
- multi-objective learning
- multi-instance learning
- transfer-learning, multi-task learning, co-training
- machine learning applications and case studies
