SOSE 2O1O: 5th International Symposium on Service Oriented System Engineering, Jun 4-5, 2010, Nanjing, China

Conference website: http://www.iSOSE.org
Submission page: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sose2010

**** Submission Deadline Extended to January 11, 2010. ****

Starting from 2005, SOSE is one of the pioneering symposia devoted to the research in system engineering issues, from architecture, computing paradigm, to the development perspectives of service-oriented systems. Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) exploits services as the fundamental elements for developing computer-based systems. It has been applied to various areas and promotes fundamental changes to system architecture, such as Platform as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service, Information as a Service, Software as a Service, etc. It has emerged as a major trend of computing paradigm in the past few years. It is the major components for Internet-based computing system, such as cloud computing, pervasive computing, utility computing, etc. Realizing the fact that SOC is changing the way software systems are being analyzed, designed, architected, delivered, consumed, maintained, and evolved, the technical theme for the 5th SOSE is on Software as a Service (SaaS).
Continuing the tradition of the past 4 SOSE Symposia, the 5th SOSE intends to provide a forum for researcher and practitioners to exchange latest observations, insights, achievements and visions in the Service-Oriented System Engineering. Particularly, SOSE 2010 invites original submissions in all the areas of the system engineering and software engineering methods, techniques, tools, applications, and experiments for software services. The topics include, but are not limited to, the followings:
Track I. System Engineering for SaaS:
- Business process integration and management
- Governance for large-scaled SaaS systems
- Modernization and servicetization of legacy systems
- Modeling and simulation of SaaS systems
- Adaptation, control and optimization in SaaS systems
- Social and collaborative engineering of SaaS systems
- Service interoperability, quality, reliability and security
- SaaS and Cloud computing

Track II. Software Engineering for SaaS:
- Model-driven development of SaaS systems
- Multi-tenant architecture, configurable architecture
- Requirement and design modeling of services and systems
- Standards and specifications of services and systems
- Semantic services and semantic-enabled service engineering
- Dynamic service delivery, deployment and evolution
- Metrics and measurement of SaaS QoS and QoE
- Runtime verification, validation, monitoring and policy enforcement

Track III. Applications and Industry Experiences of SaaS:
- Enterprise architecture and solution frameworks
- Platforms and tools for SaaS system and software engineering
- Application composition based on services
- Case studies, experiments and evaluation of the SaaS systems

Important Dates
Paper Submission: January 11, 2010
Notification of Acceptance: January 31, 2010
Camera Ready Copy Due: March 6, 2010
Symposium: June 4-5, 2010

Paper Submission
Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers as well as industrial practice papers. Simultaneous submissions to other publication venues are not permitted. Please submit papers in PDF format through the SOSE web site. Manuscript should be prepared following the IEEE Computer Society Press Proceedings Author Guidelines (http://www.computer.org/portal/pages/cscps/cps/cps_forms.html).
Manuscript length is limited to 8 pages. All papers will be evaluated based on the relevance, significance, originality, clarity, and technical merit. All accepted papers will be included in the symposium proceedings, which will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press. At least one author of each accepted paper must attend the symposium to present the work.

Special Issue for SOSE 2010
Two special issues are contracted to SOSE 2010. Best papers will be selected for a special issue in “Journal of Systems and Software (JSS)” or in “Service Oriented Computing and Applications (SOCA)”, based on their relevance to the special issue’s themes.
