CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Research in practice: a showcase of creative, cultural and social methodologies
Film City Glasgow, 21st July 2017 from 1:30pm
This forthcoming seminar provides an opportunity for researchers from across the creative and social landscape to showcase and discuss their methodological practices in a pluralistic context. It will open with a keynote presentation on practice-based research led by Dr Alison Clifford. It will culminate with a display of research outputs.
The event is designed to support postgraduate and early career researchers in the development and promotion of their research practices. It will provide a space for constructive feedback and supportive exchange with a network of peers, as well as an opportunity to learn about practices in other fields.
Proposals
We invite proposals for ten-minute presentations with a focus on methods from researchers working in the fields of creative practice, cultural production or social science. The research discussed might be archival; practice-based; quantitative; fieldwork; content analysis; or something else altogether.
Contributors might find it helpful to set their presentation in the context of one of the following topics:
• Mixing methods
• Audience and impact
• Working with human subjects
• The creative practitioner as researcher
• Practical challenges
• Ideological influences
These presentations will lead into a round table discussion on the value of multi- and interdisciplinary practice, as well as the constraints on and limits of such approaches.
Following the seminar, contributions shared and documentation of the presentations will be made available as part of a digital resource.
If you would like to deliver a ten-minute presentations on your methodological approach, please submit a short precis of between 200-300 words and a biography of 50 words via the link - https://goo.gl/forms/JoxBhSJDhId0pQsN2 - no later than 21st June.
