Call For Papers

Due to several recent requests, the submission due date has now been extended firmly to 25 April 2017 (Edinburgh Time).

Workshop to be held in conjunction with the 16th IEEE International Conference On Trust, Security And Privacy In Computing And Communications (IEEE TrustCom-17)

Welcome to SECSOC-2017 workshop!

The Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) present unprecedented opportunities for society progressively moving towards a socio-technical ecosystem. Big data collected from numerous CPS, connected via the advanced 4G/LTE and the near future 5G networks across various interfaces and locations, will facilitate more sophisticated Smart Decision Making and Personalised Services.

Security vulnerabilities in CPS, however, leave users or even the entire smart society at risk. Besides, a rapid on-going evolution in the technical architectures and topologies of the Internet brings new security challenges to the fore. The migration of networks to Software Defined Networking and Network Functions Virtualization, particularly, captures attention on the security of orchestration, management functionality, surveillance as well as privacy. Novel security schemes are, therefore, in urgent demand to enhance the reliability, robustness, and privacy of smart society.

The SECSOC-2017 workshop will be held in Sydney, Australia, and in conjunction with The 16th IEEE International Conference On Trust, Security And Privacy In Computing And Communications. The workshop will be co-organised by The Edinburgh Napier University, University of Technology, Sydney, and The Cyber Academy on the 1st – 4th of August 2017. The focus of this international workshop is to bring together expertise from industry and academia to build a secure smart society in next generation networking paradigm.

Call for papers:

Objectives, Scope, and Topics:

This international workshop is intended to serve a platform for interested stakeholders from industry and academia to present their original work on building secure Smart Society in next generation networking paradigm. In this context, it is critical to understand the potential security vulnerabilities and threat models, as well as to develop security architectures and defending mechanisms for CPS and next generation network infrastructures.

The topics of interest may include but are not limited to the followings:

-Security and privacy of CPS including IoT
*Threat Models in CPS
*Attack Strategies for CPS
*Security Architectures
*Reliable Interactions with Network Services
*System and Data Integrity
*Scalability and Robustness for CPS
*Identity Management in CPS
*Trustworthiness in CPS
*Privacy in CPSAdaptive Security in CPS
*Secure CPS interactions
*Secure CPS architecture design

-Secure 5G networks
*Core Network Security
*Cellular security
*Physical Layer Security
*Terminal and Edge Computing Security
*Security Management and Orchestration of NFV and SDN elements
*Trusted Computing with NFV and SDN
*Protocol security: Diameter, SS7, BGP etc.
*5G wireless communications

-General network security schemes for next generation networking
*Malware and attack detection and prevention techniques
*Authentication and Authorisation
*Encryption protocols, e.g. homomorphic encryption
*Key Exchange, Storage and Protection
*Honeypot and Firewall Technologies
*Software vulnerability testing, or reverse engineering.
*Formal Specification and Analysis of Protocols and Attacks, e.g. model checking etc.
*Blockchain technologies
*Cloud computing

Paper submission guideline:
Submitted papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have been published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a conference with proceedings. Papers must be clearly presented in English and should be a maximum of exceed 6 pages, including tables, figures, references, and appendixes, in IEEE Computer Society proceedings Format with Portable Document Format (.pdf). Authors are allowed to purchase up to 2 extra pages so the hard limit is 8 pages. The Submission link can be found at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=secsoc2017.

Papers will be selected based on their originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Submission of a paper should be regarded as a commitment that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and attend the conference to present the work. Accepted and presented papers will be included in the IEEE CPS Proceedings. Distinguished papers presented at the conference, after further revision, will be recommended to high-quality international journals.
