Call For Papers

Software and IT measurement are keys for successfully managing and controlling software development projects. Data analytics and measurement are essential for both business and engineering. They enrich scientific and technical knowledge regarding both the practice of software development and empirical research in software technology. The conference focuses on all aspects of software measurement and data analytics.

This year theme is Measurement for future software industry: driving value creation, i.e. how to maximize the value for an organization from making use of data from their software applications and systems. The trend towards digitization also dramatically increases the amount of data that becomes available. The value of a company is increasingly hidden in its data and can only be exploited fully if these are used efficiently along the entire value chain. The conference also focuses on novel approaches and innovative ideas on how to optimize existing products and processes making use of data as well as using Big Data as an enabler for new application cases.

The topics areas are:

- Practical measurement applications
- Data analytics in practice, e.g. Enterprise embedded solutions
- Data analytics and measurement in novel areas, e.g. ECU’s or web services
- Customer data analytics
- Measuring and quantifying value
- Measurement processes and resources, e.g. agile or model-driven
- Usage of big data analytics for improving products and processes
- Quantitative and qualitative methods for software measurement
- Empirical case studies
- Measurement in research studies
- Research methodologies for measurement programs
- Measurement theory and metrology
- System and software engineering measurement
- Measurement data mining
- IT and project cost and effort estimation, e.g., cost, effort, defects
- Functional size measurement
- Measures for Cognitive Computing
- Human centric measures
- Customer-data driven development
- Field data analytics - e.g. collecting data from cars
- Decision support systems based on measurement
- Use of machine learning for decision making
- Data driven decision making
- Measurement based recommender systems
- Innovative measures
- Measures for start-ups
- Social measures/stylometry
- Measuring heterogeneous systems
- Measures for cyber physical systems
- Cloud measures
- Visualizations and dashboards
- Data veracity and information quality
- Measurement-as-a-Service
- Service- and product-oriented measures
- Benchmarking

Papers will undergo a strict peer review process. They must be submitted for review by the Program Committee through the EasyChair conference system via: | iwsmmensura2016

- Full papers (8 to 14 pages) or
- Short papers (3 to 6 pages)

Papers should not have already been published elsewhere, nor should they have been submitted to a journal or to another conference. At least one among the authors of each paper accepted must register for the conference and commit to paper presentation. All papers submitted must follow the CPS format (US letter format). For detailed info check the CPS website. Accepted and presented papers (full papers and short papers) will be included in the conference proceedings, which will be submitted to the ACM Digital Library. A selection of the accepted papers will be invited to re-submit extended versions for consideration for publication in Information and Software Technology or IEEE Software.

The main idea of the workshops is to bring both practitioners and researchers together to exchange ideas on particular topics of importance. Workshop proposals should be described on two pages maximum and submitted directly to the Program Chair via
