This workshop will bring together researchers and industry participants who are involved with the design, development, and implementation of novel secure ubiquitous applications which can be used in heterogeneous computer systems and mobile devices.

In the last few years we have witnessed a significant increase in the use of the computers and mobile devices in Ubiquitous Computing Systems. While this is a welcome trend, security concerns are becoming one of the major problems. It is affecting the adoption rate and usage of these systems. Unless deliberate efforts are taken to secure these systems from design to implementation most of development achieved to date may not be realised and rolled out to the real world.

We welcome original, high-quality research contributions that advance the state of the art in the design, development, deployment, evaluation and understanding of secure ubiquitous computing systems.


TOPICS OF INTEREST INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

* Privacy concerns in Ubiquitous Computing Systems
* Trust concerns in Ubiquitous Computing Systems
* Design principles of secure context-aware applications
* Adaptation of secure input and output to the situation
* How does security address the legal and ethical issues in emerging ubiquitous computing systems?
* Tools and techniques for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating ubiquitous computing
systems
* Challenges in building secure Ubiquitous Computing Systems for health, academic institutions, and
other applications

Paper submission deadline: May 31, 2009
Notification of Paper acceptance: June 30, 2009
Camera-ready paper submission: September 1, 2009

SUBMISSION DETAILS

We encourage submissions from researchers and practitioners from academia and industry. All are invited to submit papers limited to 8 pages in IEEE format, describing original work or a position paper. Participants will be selected based on their submissions; a selection of papers will be presented at the workshop. Proceedings of all ICDIM 2009 workshops are to be published as a single volume of IEEE to be distributed at the ICDIM 2009 conference.

Authors of accepted papers will be expected to present their work at the workshop.
All attendees must register for the ICDIM 2009 conference.

Paper must be submitted electronically to fred.mtenzi@comp.dit.ie. All papers will be fully refereed by at least two referees and before final acceptance all referees comments must be considered. Details of previous workshop

This will be the Second Workshop in Ubiquitous Computing Systems Security (UCSS), the first was co-hosted with the third International Conference on Digital Information Management (ICDIM 2008). The participation during the workshop was very good.
