BRAZILIAN SYMPOSIUM ON SOFTWARE QUALITY - SBQS 2016
**** CALL FOR PAPERS ****

SBQS 2016: 14th Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality
October 24-26, 2016
MaceiĆ³, Alagoas, Brazil

The Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality (SBQS) is an annual conference promoted by the Special Committee on Software Engineering of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) and it is supported by the Committee of the Brazilian Program for Software Quality and Productivity (PBQP-SW) of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). The objective of SBQS is to gather researchers, professionals, entrepreneurs, professors, and students from different areas, interested in issues related to software quality. The Symposium also fosters information exchanging between recognized national and foreign researchers, and between industry and users, about the current situation and trends in methods, techniques, models, software tools and practical experience in software quality. The event consists of invited keynote talks, technical sessions (research and industry experience tracks), tutorials, a PhD and MSc thesis workshop and other satellite events.

The Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality (SBQS) is the main Brazilian forum dedicated exclusively to Software Quality. Over time, the scientific and practice communities led to creation of methods, techniques, paradigms, development environments and tools, life cycle models, maturity models, best practices, among others, which greatly impacted the way software engineering is performed. Software quality is manifested in two complementary and dependent aspects: Process Quality and Product Quality. Due to the current dependence on software and value-added services, research on software quality and its application in products and services is both a necessity and a differential to provide value to organizations and their business.

Since its conception, SBQS has focused on the exchange of experiences between academia and industry, where researchers, educators and the community of practice of Software Quality and Software Engineering meet to present and discuss ideas, experiences and discoveries aiming at the innovation with the potential to influence positively the software industry. SBQS organizers believe in the importance of approximating Software Engineering scientists and practitioners in the discussion on the role of software quality in building software today and in the future.

The 15th Brazilian Symposium on Software Quality (SBQS 2016) will be held in MaceiĆ³, Alagoas. SBQS 2016 is organized by the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL).

SUBMISSION TRACKS
The following two types of paper are considered: Research papers and Industry experience reports.

- Research papers: papers describing pioneering research results related to software quality with academic contribution.
Papers may be conceptual, empirical, experimental or theorist. SBQS encourages discussion of evaluation and analysis of results depicted in the papers. Moreover, experimental results, being primary or secondary studies, and qualitative and quantitative analysis are welcome.

- Industry experience reports: papers describing and analyzing implementation of processes, methods or software quality tools, contextualizing the experience and showing results and lessons learned in a hands-on experience with contribution to the software industry.

The paper should register the path followed by the people involved in the experience and present the necessary theoretical background used to give reasons to the subject. It may contain theoretical background, description of activities, methodology (material, method) and results. SBQS encourages the emphasis and discussion of lessons learned, whether positive or negative, best practices that emerged from the experience, developed tools, and software processes involved, as appropriate.

Experimental results are welcome in both tracks. Examples of experimental results include those obtained throughout experiments, case studies, action-research, and surveys, presenting qualitative and quantitative analysis.

It is important to make the distinction between research work and industry experience before submission. Papers mistakenly classified (industry experience reports submitted as research papers and vice-versa) will be rejected.

Papers submitted to SBQS must not have been simultaneously submitted to any other forum (conference or journal), nor should they have already been published elsewhere. The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will register for the symposium and present the paper.

PAPER SUBMISSION
All submissions must be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and must comply with the Brazilian Computer Society Conference format available at http://www.sbc.org.br. Papers should be submitted electronically through JEMS system (the web page address is yet to be defined). Submitted papers can be written in Portuguese, Spanish or English. We recommend the submission in English.

The paper type (Research or Industry Experience Report) must be written beneath the paper title before the author's name and affiliation. Papers written in Portuguese or Spanish must have an abstract in English.

Papers should be from 12-15 pages in length, including figures, tables, appendixes, references and acknowledgement.

Papers that do not meet the formatting requirements will be rejected without review. For accepted papers, a version in MS Word format (.doc or .docx) must also be submitted.

REVIEW PROCESS
Each submitted paper will be reviewed by at least three referees, based on its originality, relevance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation.

BEST PAPER AWARD
Every year the SBQS awards the best paper in each track (research and industry experience). The SBQS steering committee chooses the winning papers from the program committee reviews.
