The International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) 2016 invites submissions of papers for presentation at the conference, which will be held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, from 12 to 16 September 2016.
The ICMC 2016 Conference theme is: “Is the sky the limit?” We encourage the submission of papers on research that is related, but in no way limited, to the conference themes. Submissions must be sent electronically through the ICMC 2016 website. Electronic submission is available through the conference management system. Please assign each paper to one or to several (but no more than three) of the following categories: Acoustics of Music Aesthetics, Theory and Philosophy Algorithmic Composition Analysis of Electroacoustic Music Analysis/Synthesis Artificial Intelligence and Music Composition and Improvisation Composition Systems and Techniques Computational Musicology Computer Systems in Music Education Digital Audio Signal Processing and Audio Effects Distributed and Mobile Music History and Education History of Electroacoustic Music Interaction and Improvisation Languages for Computer Music Live Coding Mathematical Music Theory Music Information Retrieval New Interfaces for Musical Expression Perception and Cognition of Sound and Music Physical Modelling and Instrumental Acoustics Piece and Paper Representation and Models for Computer Music Software and Hardware Systems Spatialisation Techniques Studio Reports Virtual Reality Papers related to the conference themes: Is the Sky the Limit? Submission Types The ICMC 2016 Conference accepts the following types of submission for papers *: papers (for oral presentation) piece & paper (papers for oral presentation linked with a music submission), posters For oral presentation, the reviewers will primarily select papers that incorporate significant experimental or theoretical results, or which otherwise advance the field. Papers may be accepted as a long paper (6 A4s in the proceedings, and a 30-minute presentation) or as a short paper (4 A4s in the proceedings, and a 20-minute presentation). Posters are presentations of papers in large format on public display, as a forum for discussion of work in progress. Important Dates Submissions open: December 10, 2015 Deadline for submissions: February 1, 2016 Deadline for submissions is extended to 29 February 23:59 GMT – 8 (San Francisco time). Acceptance notification: April 14, 2016 Final deadline for ‘camera ready’ paper: May 14, 2016 Author registration deadline: May 14, 2016 Paper length and format Papers (for all types of presentation) should be around 4 to 6 pages long. Please make sure that you use the A4 (210mm by 297mm or 8.27″ by 11.69″) paper layout. Authors must adhere strictly to the Word or LaTeX template files, in order to format their paper correctly for submission: MS Word template LaTeX template All types of papers should be submitted in PDF format, through the Conference Management System. All submissions should be anonymous, make sure that no author names are recognisable. The reviews are anonymous, once accepted the final version of the papers will have names of authors. Please do not send papers directly by e-mail. Review and Post-review All submissions will be subject to review by at least three independent reviewers. Following notification of acceptance, authors will be requested to submit their camera-ready papers, taking into account the reviews. Proceedings All the accepted papers, irrespective of presentation format, will be included in the Conference Proceedings. The proceedings will have an ISBN and will be distributed as an electronic Open Access publication. The printed version of the proceedings will be available to the participants at extra cost. Please note that the proceedings will be printed in black and white. Registration Regulation For presentation at the conference and publication in the ICMC 2016 Conference Proceedings, a unique registration of one author (and co-author) per paper (of any submission type) is required. Individuals may appear as co–authors of several papers (of any submission type), but multiple registrations per author / participant and multiple submissions of single-authored papers will not be accepted.
