ARMS 2015 Research Management in a Global Context

The ARMS 2015 Conference theme of research management in a global context will be explored in presentations from keynote speakers and professionals from the research management community in a variety of sessions and workshops. The program aims to be of great interest and inspire research managers and administrators from various sectors, countries and sub-specialties.

The program has been developed around six themes. You are invited to submit an abstract that examines one or more of these themes and offer a solution to the questions posed:

1. Building partnerships
How do we build and support them locally & internationally?
Should every organisation have a research partnerships office?
How do you identify potential industry and academic partners?
2. Managing international projects and partners
What jurisdictional and regulatory frameworks and cultural differences need to be taken into account?
How do we deal with different expectations?
3. Collaborating and capitalising on research opportunities in Asia-Pacific Region
What are the hot areas of research and what funding opportunities exist?
4. Research administration performance
What data do we collect and what are the best tools available to extract the most useful information?
What lies beyond key performance indicators, benchmarking and bibliometrics?
5. Research impact and analytics
How do we demonstrate and track the academic, economic and societal impact of our research outcomes?
6. Translational research
How do our research outcomes influence policy and guidelines?
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Share your knowledge by submitting an abstract online in one of the following categories:

theme leader presentation
oral presentation
poster presentation
pre conference workshop
Abstract submission and evaluation
All abstracts must be submitted online through the speaker portal website. Please click on the "Submit, Edit or Add an Abstract" button at the top of this page.
Please follow all of the instructions on the website.
Abstracts should not exceed 250 words and must relate to one of the identified Conference themes.

Submission information for theme leader presentations, oral presentations, poster presentations or pre conference workshops.
Authors may submit abstracts in any of the four categories.
All presenters must register for the Conference by 15 July 2015.
Authors submitting abstracts are asked to carefully read and follow the instructions for presenting their work.

Each submission must include:

a short title - up to twenty (20) words
presenter’s name(s) (please identify which presenter is nominated for contact)
presenters contact details including institution, address, email address and telephone number
abstract clearly outlining the topic being covered
indication of preferred presentation format (theme leader, oral presenter, poster presenter or workshop presenter).
Note - inclusion in a particular presentation format is at the discretion of the ARMS 2015 Program Committee.

Theme leader presentations (20 minute presentation + 10 minute question time)

Theme leader presentations need to be an engaging and informative talk on a topic that will act as a lead into each session.
Abstracts should clearly outline the topic to be presented.
Submissions should indicate why the authors consider the topic suitable as a theme leader presentation, the experience of the presenter and how the topic fits into both the overall Conference theme and the chosen theme.
Submissions for theme leader presentations should describe original research under one of the Conference themes.
Up to thirty (30) minutes will be allocated for theme leader presentations, including question and answer (Q&A).
The Program Committee reserves the right to adjust the presentation time in certain cases.
Currently four concurrent sessions are planned.
Papers should be presented using PowerPoint projection. Please bring your presentation PowerPoint slides on a memory stick to the audio visual speaker's preparation room on arrival at the Conference so it can be loaded on to the Conference lap top computers. Please also bring a back up of your presentation on a separate USB/memory stick in case your presentation fails.
Standard audio-visual facilities will be available.
Oral presentations (10 minute presentation + 5 minute question time)

Submissions for oral presentations should describe original research conducted by the authors under one of the Conference themes. Abstracts should clearly outline the topic being covered.
Ten (10) minutes will be allocated for oral presentations with five (5) minutes for questions.
The Program Committee reserves the right to adjust the presentation time in certain cases.
Currently four concurrent sessions are planned.
Papers should be presented using PowerPoint projection. Please bring your presentation PowerPoint slides on a memory stick to the audio visual speaker's preparation room on arrival at the Conference so it can be loaded on to the Conference lap top computers. Please also bring a back up of your presentation on a separate USB/memory stick in case your presentation fails.
Standard audio-visual facilities will be available.
Poster presentations

Submissions for poster presentations should describe work under one of the Conference themes where possible.
Authors must attend their posters during the allocated time to answer questions.
Posters should be 84cm wide and 119cm high.
The poster should include author and co-authors' names, a short title, the name of the institution where the work was carried out, an abstract and section headings such as Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusions and Recommendations.
Posters should be succinct, easily read from a distance and engaging.
Each poster will be allocated a poster number closer to Conference. The poster number will indicate where your poster will be positioned/displayed at the Conference. Posters will be on display throughout the Conference.
Pre-conference Workshops

Submissions for pre-conference workshops should describe work under one of the Conference themes.
In general, workshops run for a half-day (ie three hours which includes a short refreshment break).
Papers should be presented using PowerPoint projection. Overheads will not be permitted. Please bring your presentation PowerPoint slides on a memory stick to the audio visual speaker's preparation room on arrival at the Conference so it can be loaded on to the Conference lap top computers. Please also bring a back up of your presentation on a separate USB/memory stick in case your presentation fails.

There can be no late acceptance of abstracts.

Notification date for submissions - PLEASE NOTE
All submissions will be carefully reviewed by the ARMS 2015 Program Committee and authors will be notified of acceptance.

Pre conference workshops - April 2015.
Theme leader presentations - May 2015.
Oral presentations - May 2015.
Poster presentations - May 2015.
All presenters must register by 15 July 2015.
