CFP: BICT 2015 Special Track on BioNanoNetworks: Modeling, Design, Performance and Applications (BMDPA)

9th International Conference on Bio-inspired Information and Communications Technologies (formerly BIONETICS)
December 3-5, 2015, New York City, New York, United States

Sponsored by European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) and Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science
In-corporation with ACM (Pending)

In recent years, nanonetworks, have gained considerable attention in the research community, the principal reason being the potential they have to become the catalyst for breakthroughs in critical sectors and industries, such as medicine, law enforcement and safety, manufacturing, informatics etc. While current research on nanonetworks indicates the feasibility of both biological and non-biological nanonetworks, there exists considerable motivation in favour of BioNanoNetworks (BNNs) due to their bio-friendly nature and bottom-up design approach. Use of BNN technology will lead to considerably safer and effective treatment types of cancer and neuronal (brain) disorders, new non-invasive or minimally invasive diagnostic methods, new circuit designs etc. The principal objective of this special track is to provide a discussion forum to researchers and practising engineers to present and exchange the latest research results on the design, modeling, performance analysis, and application of BNNs from the perspectives of general engineering as well as natural and applied sciences.

This special track seeks high-quality original unpublished work in the following - but not limited to - topics:

BNNs: Mathematical theory of bio-communication and bio-networks
Molecular communication and molecular nanonetworks
Biophotonic communication and networks
Modeling & performance analysis of BNNs: Performance of bio-communication systems and networks
Novel applications: Potential applications of BNNs for the emerging society
Standardization issues of BNNs
Engineered BNNs
Nanotechnology perspectives and device design for BNNs
Simulation / software tools for design and performance analysis of BNNs
Performance optimization of BNNs
Architecture, network topology, and network management of BNNs
Enhanced algorithms and efficient protocols applicable to BNNs as well as their design issues
Signal processing for BNNs: Communication and information theory applied to BNNs
