Call For Papers

The 21st International Packet Video Workshop (PV 2015) is devoted to presenting technological advancements and innovations in video and multimedia transmission over packet networks, in particular wireless and Internet networks. The workshop provides a unique venue for researcher and developers from the media coding and networking fields to meet, interact, and exchange ideas. It aims to promote the research and development in emerging video streaming, multimedia networking and cloud media computing. PV 2015 in conjunction with PCS 2015 will be held in Cairns, Australia, on May 31st-June 4th, 2015. As in previous years, the workshop will be a single-track event and welcomes paper submissions from both cutting edge research and its business and consumer applications.

Regular Sessions

Prospective authors are invited to submit an electronic version of full papers, in PDF format, up to 6 printed pages in length (double column) according to the guidelines available on the workshop website at http://www.pv2015.org/. Papers accepted by PV2015 will be presented in the PV section of PCS2015 (http://www.pcs2015.org/) and included in the PCS2015 proceedings. In keeping with tradition, the International Packet Video Workshop is scheduled with Picture Coding Symposium (PCS). The attendees of PCS2015 are very welcome to submit their papers to PV 2015, a high quality international workshop, and enjoy Cairns during the workshop.

• Speech, audio, image, graphics, video and text coding for network communication
• Standards for multimedia communication and related issues
• Multimedia processing and distribution in online communities
• Animation, virtual reality and 3D imaging over networks
• Network gaming and graphical communication
• Security, privacy, and protection for multimedia delivery
• Distributed multimedia database and digital library
• Network economics for multimedia application
• Communication aspects of mobile augmented reality and media search
• Database building and validation

We invite Packet Video attendees to participate to a special demo session in the Packet Video technical program that will foster lively, informal, and in-depth discussions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Cloud and peer-to-peer system architectures
Media streaming, distribution and storage support
Multimedia communications and system security
Multi-core and many-core architecture support
Networked GPUs, graphics and virtual environments
Networked games, real-time immersive systems
Operating system, middleware and network support
Web systems and social networks
Next-generation video like multi-view, panorama and 3D manipulations
Wireless networks and embedded systems for multimedia applications
Content-centric networking

What and How to Submit:

Packet Video demos will be selected on the basis of two-page abstracts, using the same format as for regular papers according to the guidelines available on the workshop website at http://www.pv2015.org/. Abstracts must be submitted through the submission system
Demos will be reviewed and selected on the following basis:

Submissions must describe new, interesting work, not previously presented.

Please provide the following information in your PDF file in addition to presenting your research:

Demo title
Author names, affiliations and email addresses

Demos will be published online on the workshop Web site. Authors of the best demos will be given three minutes each to present their work orally before the demo session.

*** CALL FOR SPECIAL PROPOSALS
Special session papers will supplement to the regular papers and be included in the proceedings of PV 2015. Each special session should focus on a state-of-the-art research direction in all areas related to packet video.

Special Session Proposal Requirements:
Usually, each special session should comprise of five papers. Please include the following information in a proposal:

Title of the proposed special session.

Name(s)/affiliations(s) of the organizer(s). Please also include a brief bio and contact information.

A session abstract including significance justification and a brief overview of the state-of-the-art of the proposed title.

Proposals are to be submitted by email to Prof Kim Man Lam at (kin.man.lam@polyu.edu.hk) using subject “PV 2015 Special Session Proposal”.

Proposals will be evaluated based on the relevance to PV, qualification(s) of the organizer(s) and the quality of the topic/proposed potential papers. Once the proposal accepted, the organizer(s) will need to arrange the review process.

In order to ensure high quality of the workshop papers, all papers submitted to special sessions will be peer-reviewed through the same process as the regular papers. If a special session has too many papers, some of the papers might be moved to some regular sessions.

Deadline for Special Session Proposals: January 6th, 2015.
Notification of Proposal Acceptance: January 13th, 2015.
Submission of Full Papers: March 2nd, 2015. Monday.
Notification of Paper Acceptance: March 16th, 2015. Monday.
