We are happy to welcome SIGIR 2015 to Santiago de Chile, the second time it happens in South America.
SIGIR is the major international forum for the presentation of new research results and for the demonstration of new systems and techniques in information retrieval (IR).
At a time of exceptional growth in the importance of search technologies, the world's leading information retrieval experts from academia and industry will converge on Santiago de Chile from 9th to 13th August for SIGIR 2015.
The conference consists of five days of papers, posters, tutorials, workshops, demonstrations and a doctoral consortium focused on research and development in the area of IR, as well as social events at Santiago.
SIGIR publishes original, high-quality research related to information retrieval. SIGIR 2015 welcomes contributions related to any aspect of IR theory and foundations, techniques, and applications.
About Chile
Chile is a long country (4,300 kilometers) with approximately 17 million inhabitants. We have amazing sightseeing, from the Atacama Desert in the north, to the wine region (center), Easter Island in the Polynesia, the Lake District and the Chilean Patagonia (this one only in summer).
The capital, Santiago de Chile, is connected to the world by many airlines offering regular flights. Santiago lies at the foot of the highest segment of the Andes that reaches almost 7,000 meters, covering an area of 15,500 sq km, and being the home to over 6 million people.
