-- WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION --

Peer-reviews, peer-assessment and self-assessment recently gain more and
more interest in modern education. They have been used to improve the
learning process in virtual learning environments (VLEs), personal learning
environments (PLEs), in massive open online courses (MOOCs), but also in
more traditional educational contexts. Peer-reviews and peer-assessment
tasks encourage engagement with outputs produced by peer learners and thus
simulate social learning. Learners also benefit from the feedback, as it is
known that some of them may be more open to critical feedback from their
peers compared to the instructor's feedback. Self-assessment, on the other
hand, encourages reflection and contributes to key competencies such as
accurate self-evaluation of ones abilities and performance, better
organization of work, etc. In more informal, or massive learning
applications such as MOOCs, peer- and self-derived feedback gains further
importance simply as it may well be the only feedback available when there
are no instructors, or they may be greatly outnumbered by the learners.

The PRASAE 2014 workshop aims to bring together a community of researchers
currently interested and working on issues related to peer-assessment,
peer-reviews, and self-assessment, especially in the context of web-based
learning environments and applications, but also in more traditional
contexts. We hope for connecting people in valuable discussion on
fundamental problems, but as well recent developments, and open issues in
this line of research.

-- WORKSHOP TOPICS --

Workshop submissions are encouraged in topics related to those listed
below. The list is not exclusive, researchers are invited to submit any
papers that they think relevant or connected to these issues.

* Self-assessment in web-based learning environments
* Applications of peer-review, peer-assessment, and self-assessment in
context of MOOCs
* Methodology for peer-review, peer-assessment, and self-assessment in
context of web-base learning
* Combining peer-review, peer-assessment, and self-assessment with the
educational process in schools and universities

and self-driven education
* Group-assessment and collaborative assessment

peer-assessment, and self-assessment
* Analysis and evaluation of learner's outputs from peer-review,
peer-assessment, and self-assessment
* Applications and tools for peer-review, peer-assessment, and
self-assessment in context of web-based learning
* Relation of peer-review, peer-assessment, and self-assessment with
social learning and other learning theories

peer-assessment, peer-review and self-assessment
* Use-cases, evaluation, experience

-- SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS --

Researchers are encouraged to submit research papers with recent results,
including work-in-progress reports which has already reached substantial
maturity. In addition, survey and position papers that provide overview of
the state-of-the art and discuss important and challenges issues can be
submitted. The selection of papers will be based on originality and
contribution on one hand, but also on the potential to bring interesting
discussion topics to the workshop. All papers will be peer-reviewed by at
least 3 members of the program committee. Review process is blind but not
double-blind (i.e., include the names and affiliation of authors).

Papers should be submitted in PDF and formatted according to Springer LNCS
Author Guidelines. Research papers are limited to 10 pages including
references, survey and position papers are limited to 6 pages including
references. Papers should be submitted using EasyChair:
