Call For Papers

The IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series (IMWS) on Art of Miniaturizing RF and Microwave Passive Components will be held in Chengdu, China, December 14-15, 2008 under the sponsorship and organization of the IEEE MTT-S Society and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). This first MTT-IMWS workshop in Asia-Pacific Regions will focus on miniaturized single-, multi- and wide-band RF and microwave passive components.

Background: The IEEE MTT-S Administrative Committee (AdCom) has passed a resolution of its Transnational Committee to create and develop the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series (IMWS) starting from 2008. This new platform fully sponsored by the MTT-S is to boost and promote MTT-S technical and educational activities as well as MTT-S international exchanges and collaborations. Topic and venue of such workshops will be decided by technical organizers who are well-known experts together with local organizers, which allow an unparalleled interaction between the external and local organizers. Several workshops covering different topics will be developed each year in various continents and countries.

Topics: Planar filters, couplers, dividers/combiners, baluns/transitions, impedance transformers, diplexers/multiplexers, transmission lines, periodic structures, waveguide components, dielectric resonators, and non-planar structures, as well as advanced analysis, synthesis and optimization methodologies for RF and microwave passive components.

Electronic Paper Submission: The technical papers must be in the 4-page IEEE Xplore compatible PDF format and the file size must be less than 1 MB. Please submit the paper via MTT-IMWS08@uestc.edu.cn by August 30, 2008. Late submissions will not be considered. Complete information on paper submission, registration, and other important news will also be found at the website http://www.MTT-IMWS08.uestc.edu.cn. The paper selection criteria will follow the IMS process including the following factors: originality, quantitative content, clarity, and interest to the MTT-S Society on the above-listed topics of this workshop. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by e-mail on September 30, 2008 and the final manuscript must be received by October 15, 2008. Both oral and interactive forum sections with invited and contributing papers will be organized.

Invited Keynote speakers:
Jia-Sheng Hong (Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom)
Ikuo Awai (Ryukoku University, Japan)
Wolfgang Menzel (University of Ulm, Germany)
Tatsuo Itoh (University of California, Los Angeles, United States)
