Call For Papers

11th International Baltic Conference on Databases and Information Systems (Baltic DB&IS 2014)
June 8-11, 2014 Tallinn, Estonia

Due to numerous requests we have received the last few days from colleagues around the world for a few more days to complete their papers, we have extended the paper submission deadline to February 20, 2014.

- Institute of Cybernetics at Tallinn University of Technology
- Department of Computer Engineering of Tallinn University of Technology

Data management is fundamental for most information systems (IS) and especially for those based on the web. As the volume of data created globally is expected to grow exponentially in forthcoming years, management of big data gains importance in database research and development. Another new research area of great interest is the fusion or linking of structured and unstructured data in IS’s, tightly related to semantic technologies. In addition, explosion of data usage scenarios, and shifts in computing hardware and platforms highly influence data management and development of modern information systems.

The Baltic conference on databases and information systems is an international forum among researchers and developers of databases and information systems. The purpose of this conference series is to bring together researchers, practitioners and PhD students in the fields of advanced database and IS’s research, and provide an environment to exchange research findings and ideas on the matters, where development of reliable and sustainable systems, with data in the central role, has become crucial in modern diverse IS engineering. The conference will feature original research and application papers on the theory, design and implementation of today's IS’s on a set of themes and issues.

This conference is continuing a series of successful bi-annual Baltic conferences on databases and information systems, which have been held in Trakai (1994), Tallinn (1996, 2002, 2008), Riga (1998, 2004,2010), and Vilnius (2000, 2006, 2012).

The 11th Baltic DB&IS will take place in Tallinn whose picturesque medieval Old Town is known around the world for its well-preserved completeness and authentic Hanseatic architecture. Enchanting atmosphere, rich cultural scene, beautiful surroundings, cutting-edge restaurants, cafés and clubs - there is certainly something for everyone in Tallinn.

Deadline for papers: February 20, 2014 (extended)
Notification of acceptance: April 11, 2014
Camera-ready papers: April 28, 2014
Conference dates: June 8-11, 2014

The official language of the conference is English (talks as well as publications). To activate and motivate PhD students, the conference programme will include Doctoral Consortium chaired by invited professors.
