Call For Papers

Workshop in Conjunction with PAKDD 2013
17th Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining
14 April, 2013, Brisbane, Australia

Integrity constraints such as keys, functional dependencies, conditional functional dependencies, and the recent proposed differential dependencies form significant basis of data semantics. They can be used in many applications like database design, semantics reason in data transformation and integration, data quality management, data cleaning, and query processing. The discovery of integrity constraints from existing data is an important way to learn data semantics in terms of integrity constraints, especially when it is not known to the domain experts. The topic has been an interested area to both database and data mining communities. This workshop aims to be a communication forum for people working in constraint management and discovery and data mining areas.

Many types of integrity constraints have been defined in the literature: functional dependencies, inclusion dependencies, matching dependencies, conditional functional dependencies, differential dependencies etc.. Some good algorithms have been proposed in the areas of functional dependency discovery and conditional functional dependency discovery. A few initial works have done on discovering other types of constraints. This workshop will help for researchers to disseminate their research results and exchange ideas relating to constraint discovery and applications.

The major topics of the workshop will include but are not limited to the following:
1. algorithms for the discovery of constraints from large data and streaming data
2. evaluation of algorithms for constraint discovery
3. constraints and their discovery in XML data
4. interestingness of constraints
5. detection of constraint transition
6. verification of constraints
7. constraints and data quality
8. applications of constraints

Workshop Program

The full day workshop will consist of oral presentations, discussions, demos and invited talks. The workshop will also provide opportunity for demo sessions, where presenters can showcase advanced prototypes based on their research where applicable.

Submission of Papers

Authors should submit papers reporting original works that are currently not under review or published elsewhere. The paper should be submitted in PDF format, with maximum length of twelve (12) pages, following Springer-Verlag's LNCS manuscript submission guidelines, available at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.
50% of presented papers in the workshop will be selected to be included in the workshop proceedings of PAKDD published by Springer. If the workshop receives good number of quality submissions, a special issue of a journal will be applied to publish good papers.

Submitting a paper to the workshop implies that if the paper is accepted, at least one author should attend the workshop to present the paper.

The submission site of CDA2013 is https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/CDA2013/
