WORKSHOP INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES
====================================
Graph-based data models have recently gained much popularity as
powerful means for data representation in several database
application areas. Notable examples of application domains where
data is naturally represented in graph-based form are biological and
chemical databases, Web-scattered data, healthcare, personal
information management (PIM) and enterprise information management
(EIM) systems, social networks, just to mention a few. The largeness
and complexity of datasets in these domains make their querying a
really challenging task.

The overall goal of the workshop is to bring people from different
fields together, exchange research ideas and results, and encourage
discussion about how to efficiently and effectively support graph
queries in different application domains. GraphQ seeks at providing
the opportunity for inspiration and cross-fertilization for the many
research groups working on graph-structured data, with a particular
focus on the querying issues.

TOPICS OF INTEREST
==================
The main topics covered by the workshop include, but are certainly
not limited to:

- Query models and languages for graph-structured data
- Managing large graphs for searching purposes
- Graph pattern matching
- Querying RDF graphs, ontologies, or other knowledge
representations
- Flexible query answering on graph-structured data
- Personalization in graph search and feedback
- Graph query processing and performance optimization
- Keyword search on graph-structured data
- Information retrieval on graph-structured data
- Querying distributed and/or heterogeneous graph-structured data
- Querying graph-structured data streams
- Query visualization and interactive interfaces for
graph-structured data
- Querying biological databases
- Graph query processing for Social Networks

SUBMISSION AND PROCEEDINGS
==========================
We encourage authors to submit vision, system, original research,
practical experience or position papers that are not being
considered for publication in any other forum.

Papers submitted should be at most ten (10) pages long. Papers must
be submitted in the *ACM double-column format*; Detailed formatting
instructions and samples are available here:
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates.

All submissions will be handled electronically through the EasyChair
system. To register and submit papers, please, follow the link:
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=graphq2013. Each
submission will be refereed by at least three PC members.

The proceedings of all EDBT workshops will be published in ACM
Digital Library. Depending on the number and quality of submissions,
the best papers of the workshop may be selected and proposed to be
published in an internationally recognized journal (subject to
additional reviewing).

At least one author is expected to register for the workshop and to
give a talk about the contribution.
