KDD 2012 Workshop on Crowdsourcing and Data Mining (CrowdKDD'12)
Beijing, China, August 12, 2012

http://www.cse.ust.hk/~nliu/crowdkdd12/

In recent years, the emergence of powerful crowdsourcing platforms such as Amazon's Mechanical Turk, Livework, Crowdflower, DoMyStuff, etc, has greatly broadened the scope of applications that can utilize crowd intelligence via novel computational and economical mechanisms. We are only beginning to understand how the landscape of our field is going to change when the crowd is becoming an integral part of the entire data mining process from data collection, modeling to evaluation. The goal of this workshop is to bring together interested researchers in order to shape a vision of the important research challenges posed to the data mining community by crowdsourcing.

We invite submissions of papers describing original research addressing data mining challenges in association with crowdsourcing. This includes but is not restricted to the following topics:
- Novel mechanisms and tools (e.g., human computation, gamification) for engaging users in data generation tasks
- Cleaning and quality control of data collected via crowdsourcing
- Learning with multiple imperfect labelers
- Techniques for identifying and mitigating spam and abuse in crowdsourcing tasks
- Large-scale knowledge discovery and performance evaluation with the support of crowd
- Use cases and applications of data mining related to crowdsourcing
- User models and human factors in designing crowdsourcing systems e.g. incentives, cognitive bias, bounded rationality, etc.
- Performance evaluation and economical analysis for crowdsourcing based data mining applications

We especially welcome innovative data mining solutions and case studies involving significant use of a crowdsourcing platform such as Amazon's Mechanical Turk, Crowdflower, etc.
