Special Issue on Virtual Power Plants and Smart Grids

Multiagent and Grid Systems - An International Journal (SAGE Publications)


The special issue particularly welcomes original contributions that leverage multi-agent technologies, AI-driven decision-making, distributed intelligence, and cloud-edge architectures to enhance the resilience, flexibility, sustainability, and security of future energy systems.

Topics of Interest include, but not limited to:

- Large Language Models (LLMs) for power system operation and management
- AI agents and autonomous decision-making in energy systems
- Multi-agent systems for distributed energy coordination
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for grid knowledge management and decision support
- Embodied AI for energy-aware cyber-physical systems
- Foundation models and generative AI for power system applications
- Explainable AI, and responsible AI in smart grids
- Reinforcement learning and multi-agent reinforcement learning for grid control

Submission Information

Submissions are open now and will be handled on a continuous basis. The Journal's standard peer-review process and revision procedures will be applied to all submissions. Manuscripts for the special issue will receive expedited handling.

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the Journal's submission guidelines and submit their papers through the Journal's online submission system.
