include studies of design processes, research methods, deployment
analyses, and situated use studies related to the design and use of
communication artifacts.

Conference submissions should address topics including, but not limited to:

International and Intercultural Communication Design

Guidelines for Submission Types

SIGDOC 2011 submission types include research and technical papers,
experience reports, and posters. Authors should submit full papers as
described below for blind review. To submit a paper, experience
report, or poster proposal for review, use the submission platform
available from the conference web site: http://www.sigdoc.org/2012.

If you have any questions regarding the process, please email the
program chair at clay.spinuzzi@mail.utexas.edu.

Research and Technical Papers. Full papers should not exceed 5,500
words, approximately 10 pages in ACM SIGDOC conference format
(available at the site), including figures and references. The results
described must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
The full paper must include the title, an abstract of up to 150 words,
and keywords. For first submissions, do not include author names or
affiliations.
Experience Reports. Experience reports present project- or
workplace-focused summaries of important technologies, techniques, or
product processes and should not exceed 3,500 words. The experience
report is a standalone, six-page extended abstract that describes a
design experience and its lessons for other designers of
communication. The experience report must include the title, an
abstract of up to 150 words, and keywords. For first submissions, do
not include author names or affiliations.
Posters. Poster proposals should not exceed 1,000 words. Accepted
poster submissions will be published as a one-page abstract in the
conference proceedings. The submission should be formatted according
to the ACM guidelines for paper submissions. For first submissions, do
not include author names or affiliations.
