CALL FOR PAPERS — REHMED 2026 Representation Learning for Heterogeneous Biomedical Data Workshop at ECML PKDD 2026 | 07 September 2026 | Napoli, Italy =========================================================================== OVERVIEW -------- REHMED 2026 invites original, unpublished contributions at the intersection of machine learning and clinical AI. The workshop focuses on representation learning methods that advance the robustness, transferability, and trustworthiness of models operating on heterogeneous biomedical data, including electronic health records (EHR), medical imaging, omics, physiological signals, and clinical text. Clinical data are multi-modal, multi-source, longitudinal, and often incomplete. REHMED addresses methods that bridge machine learning innovation and real-world deployment constraints, with special attention to uncertainty estimation, calibration, fairness, explainability, and privacy-preserving learning — in line with high-risk AI requirements in healthcare. The workshop welcomes both methodological advances and applications in realistic biomedical settings. It is designed as a forum for ML and DL researchers, biomedical data scientists, clinicians, companies, startups, and graduate students working on robust and clinically meaningful representations. TOPICS OF INTEREST ------------------ We welcome contributions across the following technical areas: Representation Learning and Adaptation - Foundation models for biomedical data - Self-supervised and weakly supervised learning - Transfer learning and domain adaptation - LLMs and ontology-aware representations Multimodal and Multi-source Integration - Cross-modal alignment and fusion - Learning from unpaired multimodal data - Incomplete and partially observed modalities - Data harmonization across institutions Structured and Temporal Modeling - Graph and relational representations - Longitudinal patient trajectory modeling - Time-series representation learning - Geometry-aware and hyperbolic embeddings Trustworthy, Causal, and Privacy-aware AI - Causal representation learning for healthcare - Uncertainty estimation and calibration - Interpretability, fairness, and safety - Federated and privacy-preserving learning SUBMISSION GUIDELINES --------------------- - Original and unpublished work only. Concurrent submissions must be disclosed at the time of submission. - Submissions must follow the ECML PKDD 2026 workshop track instructions and be formatted according to the LNCS guidelines. - The review process is double-blind, with at least three independent reviews per submission. - Contributions are evaluated on relevance, technical rigor, originality, and potential impact. - Accepted papers will appear in post-workshop Springer CCIS proceedings. Authors may opt in or opt out of proceedings publication. - Selected contributions may be invited to an extended journal submission route discussed in the workshop proposal. IMPORTANT DATES --------------- Paper submission deadline: 05 June 2026 Notification of acceptance: 30 June 2026 Camera-ready submission: 10 July 2026 Workshop day: 07 September 2026 WORKSHOP FORMAT --------------- REHMED is a half-day workshop combining invited talks, pitch presentations, and a poster session, followed by a moderated discussion on open problems and future research directions. The format is designed to foster interdisciplinary exchange and direct engagement between participants. PUBLICATION ----------- Accepted papers will be published in the post-workshop proceedings of ECML PKDD 2026, by Springer CCIS. Authors can opt in or opt out from proceedings publication. Camera-ready papers should be prepared in LNCS format. Selected contributions may also be considered for an extended journal submission route.
