Call For Papers

You are cordially invited by the German voice research unit DFG FOR894/2 to participate in the 8th International Conference on Voice Physiology and Biomechanics to take place in July 5-7, 2012 in Erlangen, Germany.

The conference will focus especially on studies related to the "Voice Source Analysis" as indicated by the subtitle of the conference to promote a wide spectrum of research on phonation-related transglottal airflow and vocal fold vibration.

It will provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of current and prospective scientific research on the larynx and voice. The emphasis of this conference will be on basic and applied research rather than clinical treatment studies. We encourage investigators working in the following areas to attend the conference:

Acoustics
Aerodynamics
Anatomy
Bioacoustics
Biomechanics
Laryngeal Pathologies
Modeling
Molecular & Cellular Biology
Neurobiology
Neurophysiology
Physics
Physiology
Tissue Engineering

In connection with ICVPB 2012, an international summer school for Ph.D. students and post docs as well as senior researchers will be arranged July 3-4, 2012 at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. High-level referents will offer mainly hands-on workshops concerning among others the following themes:

F. Alipour (USA), G. Luegmair (GER):
How to perform excised larynx experiments

M. Stingl (GER), A. Sutor (GER):
Material and mechanical properties of vocal folds (experimental and numerical approaches)

S. Becker (GER), S. Kniesburges (GER), S. L. Thomson (USA)
Experiments with synthetic vocal fold models (air driven)

M. Kaltenbacher (AU), S. Zörner (AU), L. G. Mongeau (CAN)
Numerical simulations of vocal fold dynamics

N. Henrich (FRA), C. Herbst
Glottal contact and vocal-tract resonances in phonation: measurements and analysis
Monitoring vocal fold contact with EGG wavegrams

I. R. Titze (USA)
Source-filter interaction and how to model it

R. Patel (USA), J. Svec (CZ)
Endoscopic High Speed Videos and high speed videokymography: application and analysis

R. C. Scherer (USA), C. Brücker (GER)
- Pressure distributions on the two sides of the glottis
- Pressure flow analysis (experimental approach, water model)

M. Kob (Ger)
Analysis and synthesis of the singing voice: extraction of voice parameters from VRP, EGG and microphone recordings, simulation of vocal fold oscillation with a multiple-mass model

A. Ziethe (Ger), S. Weiss (GER)
Workshop for women
