CALL FOR PAPERS
Submission Deadline: January 10, 2012 Journal of Computers ISSN: 1991-1599, Indexed: EI/COMPENDEX Web page: http://www.joc.iecs.fcu.edu.tw Special Issue on Software Evolution in the Era of Cloud Computing Guest Editors: Prof. Hongji Yang and Dr. Xiaodong Liu Aims Cloud computing has recently emerged as a new delivery model of software services and is becoming a popular commercial reality. Although technically cloud computing is still to mature, it has entered nearly every root of computing systems and ICT sectors. Researchers and practitioners in both traditional and emerging computing areas are running into a “cloud rush” in finding new approaches and technologies for dealing with the emerging issues in various areas in the new cloud-based contexts, including the many challenges in fundamental models, infrastructures and architectures, provision of services and development of applications. Software evolution has been a major drive for providing up-to-date and continuous software service from released software systems, which are considered never complete and continues to evolve. The emergence of cloud computing has driven software evolution to a new era: on one hand, the evolution will happen in the new forms of cloud services, mostly as SaaS, PaaS or IaaS; on the other hand, the evolution has to match the unique features of cloud services, such as dynamism to suit constantly changing needs from the business, close collaboration among all stakeholders, virtualization, efficiency and service-intensive transactions. These features determine that the software evolutions in clouds have to be dynamic, aware of QoS (Quality of Services) and aware of cloud infrastructures. In answering the above challenges, the research and industry communities have been actively creating new approaches and tools for software evolution in the current cloud era. This special issue will collect such new approaches, the resultant tools and case studies or practice aiming to promote their acceptance and to foster further advances and developments. Call for Contributions We welcome papers that are theoretical or practical in the nature of advances of the state-of-the-art. High-quality papers on new approaches, technologies, tools, and their practical applications will be of particular interest to this special issue of the Journal of Computers. The special issue will facilitate the exchange the above advances in software evolution across multi-disciplines and among the communities of research, industry and user communities. Submitted papers may cover any topics related with new advances or practice in software evolution. Guidelines for Authors Submitted papers should be no more than 20 pages. Papers should be prepared in the Journal of Computers template, which is available at http://www.joc.iecs.fcu.edu.tw/E_papfor.htm. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. To submit a paper, please email your paper in MS Word or PDF to one of the guest editors.
