Aim and Scope
This volume investigates how narratives conceive, contest, and reframe spaces and futures through the lenses of utopia, dystopia, and heterotopia. We encourage contributions that probe the imaginative, ethical, political, and aesthetic dimensions of world-making across genres, periods, and media. Submissions may address, but are not limited to:
• Theories and genealogies of utopia, dystopia, and heterotopia in narrative studies
• Narrative techniques of world-building, estrangement, and spatial design
• Utopian desire, dystopian critique, heterotopic displacement, and counter-spaces
• Temporalities of hope, crisis, catastrophe, resilience, and repair
• Intersections with posthumanism, ecology, technology, gender, memory, migration, disability, or race
• Comparative and transnational approaches, including adaptations across film, television, theatre, and digital media
• Reception histories and the cultural politics of ideal or unlivable worlds
We welcome historically grounded case studies, theoretical interventions, and interdisciplinary essays.
Submission Guidelines
• Abstract length: 300–500 words
• Include: title, author name, affiliation, ORCID
• Formatting: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing
• Abstract submission deadline: 1 December 2025
