We welcome contributions to the book proposal "Green Energy Pathways in Ibero-America: Policies, Barriers, and Social Challenges" to be submitted for approval in the Springer Green Energy and Technology series (https://link.springer.com/series/8059).

📖️ Topics of Interest:

This proposal is inspired by ongoing collaboration within the RIBIERSE Network—a international academic initiative involving 32 university groups from 22 Ibero-American countries supported by the Iberoamerican program CYTED—but the volume is opened to a broader range of contributors working across the region on energy and sustainability-related topics. The book aims at exploring how Ibero-American countries are progressing toward a just and sustainable energy transition. Through a combination of national case studies and analytical chapters, the volume will examine how renewable energy is being integrated into power systems and how technical, regulatory, economic, and social dimensions influence this process.
Contributions are welcome in areas including, but not limited to:

1) 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐨-𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚:
• National energy matrices and renewable energy projections
• Expansion and development plans for energy transitions
• Notable pilot projects or programs enabling large-scale integration of renewables
• National strategies for electric mobility

2) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧:
• Existing regulatory frameworks for renewable energy
• Technical and bureaucratic barriers (e.g., environmental licenses, project approvals)
• Economic incentives or disincentives (e.g., surplus commercialization, taxation models)
• Energy market structures: public-private partnerships, cooperatives, grid operators

3) 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐚: 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫, 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬:
• Regional cooperation in technology development and knowledge exchange
• Local technological maturity and role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in implementation
• Workforce development, training programs, and availability of skilled installers

4) 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
• Gender equity, social participation, and the involvement of local communities
• Green financing and access to sustainable funding mechanisms
• Energy accessibility, affordability, and strategies to reduce energy poverty
• Social barriers to adoption and citizen awareness about renewable energy benefits

• Abstract Submission Deadline: September 30, 2025.

The chapter proposal should include a title, a short abstract (4–5 sentences), and at least one contributing author (including name, affiliation, and contact email). Minor adjustments to this information will be allowed when submitting the full chapter.
Please note that this call for chapters is part of a book proposal currently under review. Contributions will be submitted to the publisher for formal evaluation.

• Estimated submission of the book proposal to Springer: October 15, 2025

If the proposal is approved, accepted abstracts will lead to invitations for full chapter submissions. Authors will be notified accordingly. The book will be published as part of a reputable edited collection, with no publication fees for the authors.
