Thematic call: Innovations and Challenges in Political Communication: Hybrid Systems and Digital Culture in the 2024 Presidential Campaigns Important dates: • Deadline for Submissions: September 30, 2025 • Final Publication Date: December 30, 2025 Thematic Editors: Dr. Juan Larrosa Fuentes, Dra. Magdalena Sofía Paláu Cardona y Mtra. María Quinn Cervantes (Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente). Thematic Call: In the year 2024, more than 50 presidential elections were held worldwide, including several in the Americas. Virtualis Journal invites the academic community to submit research articles focused on political communication, communicative technologies, and digital culture in contemporary electoral campaigns. The aim is to explore how hybrid communication systems are used, the interaction between traditional and digital media, and the impact of emerging technologies such as social media and artificial intelligence in campaigns. Additionally, we invite analyses of epistemic dysfunctions such as disinformation, and studies on citizen participation facilitated or inhibited by digital technologies. Miscellaneous continuous call: In addition to the thematic articles, Virtualis welcomes original research articles on digital culture and topics related to communication, sociology, journalism, political science, art, creative industries, education, accessibility, anthropology, and digital humanities. Contributions for this Miscellaneous section are accepted year-round and will be published alongside one of the issues of the year. Virtualis publishes articles in both Spanish and English. Please find the Publication Guidelines and Submission Instructions here (https://www.revistavirtualis.mx/index.php/virtualis/autor) We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions to enrich this special issue of the journal.
