The International Institute of Obsolescence Management (IIOM) is pleased to announce its 2025 Conference, themed “Building and Sustaining Systems in the Face of Obsolescence: Business Cases and Knowledge Transfer to the Next Generation of Experts.” Join us in Paris for the IIOM Conference 2025 and be part of the conversation that will shape the future of obsolescence management and the next generation of experts. IIOM invites you to participate in our conference programme and workshops by submitting a paper to the Conference committee for selection. The theme is further expanded below, and papers are invited that should cover, but are not limited to, the following: Business Cases - Cost-Benefit Analysis: Examining the financial implications of obsolescence management strategies and impact on business operations and bottom-line results. - Return on Investment (ROI): Analyzing the ROI of obsolescence management initiatives and their impact on business performance. - Risk Management: Discussing the role of risk management in obsolescence management and its impact on business operations. - Supply Chain Management: Exploring the impact of obsolescence on supply chain management and the strategies for mitigating these risks. Knowledge Transfer - Training and Development: Discussing the importance of training and development programs in building the skills and expertise of obsolescence management professionals. - Knowledge Management and Mentoring: Exploring the role of mentoring and knowledge management in capturing and sharing knowledge and expertise. - Collaboration and Partnerships: Discussing the importance of collaboration and partnerships in sharing knowledge and expertise in obsolescence management. Designing for Obsolescence Resilience - Design for Manufacturability: Examining the role of design for manufacturability in building systems that can withstand the challenges of obsolescence. - Design for Sustainability: Discussing the importance of designing systems that are sustainable and can be easily maintained and upgraded. - Modular Design: Exploring the benefits of modular design in building systems that can be easily upgraded and modified. Sustaining Systems - Maintenance and Repair: Examining the role of maintenance and repair in sustaining systems over their lifecycle. - Upgrade and Modernization: Discussing the importance of upgrading and modernizing systems to ensure they remain relevant and effective. - End-of-Life Management: Exploring the challenges and opportunities of managing the end-of-life of systems, including disposal and recycling. *Abstracts Abstracts should follow the template provided and be submitted before 17 February 2025 to conference2025@iiom.global. Please note that all papers and presentations must be in English. Selected presenters will be contacted by the 19 March 2025 and the presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint format will be required by 29 August 2025.
