PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE FOURTH ANNE LISTER SOCIETY MEETING, spring 2025!
Since our inaugural meeting in April 2022, the Anne Lister Society has convened each April in Anne Lister’s hometown of Halifax, U.K.; we are thrilled to announce that we will reconvene for our fourth conference, 4-5 April 2025, again in Halifax, during the Anne Lister Birthday festivities.

Launched in the summer of 2020, the Society aims to foster knowledge of Lister’s extraordinary life and writings and to interpret her legacy. It seeks to nourish conversation among scholars and to build conversations between scholars and Lister’s wider readership and expanding network of invested enthusiasts. By encouraging research and greater understanding of her way of inhabiting the world, the Society aims to establish and sustain Anne Lister’s place — both in the cultural tradition and for the future.

We seek proposals for papers on any subject related to Anne Lister and the diverse contexts for interpreting her life and writings. Given the ranging areas of knowledge touched by the extraordinary written record she left us throughout her life, we hope to hear papers and analysis from academic and independent researchers across the disciplines and from interdisciplinary perspectives.

Please send a descriptive paper title and a 300-word abstract (specifying the materials that would be the focus of a 20-minute paper, and your basic approach to analyzing and interpreting those materials) and either a brief research-oriented biography or an abridged CV in a SINGLE PDF to Prof Chris Roulston (croulsto@uwo.ca) by Friday 15 November 2024.
