IN BRIEF
* Full-day workshop in conjunction with MuC2024 in Karlsruhe
* Position papers are limited to 2-4 pages (excluding references) following the respective ACM templates and the SIGCHI Accessibility guidelines.
* The deadline for submitting position papers is June 12, 2024
* Participants accepted for the workshop must register following the MuC 2024 registration for workshops

In this workshop, we would like to explore interdisciplinary collaboration and co-creation in healthcare. To this end, we invite researchers and practitioners from diverse fields, including HCI, CSCW, AI, data science, ethics and socioinformatics, to share insights and case studies on innovative health technologies, (tele) medical AI, hybrid care models and self-diagnostic tools for everyday use. Recent advances in data science and AI-driven health technologies are opening up new opportunities for innovation, such as personalized medicine, self-diagnostic tools for everyday use or hybrid care models. However, the development of these technologies often does not take into account the perspectives of patients and their families as well as their socio-cultural environment, which poses significant social, technological and ethical challenges related to data bias, empowerment or surveillance. Systematic collaboration between interdisciplinary, interprofessional and intersectoral teams seems to be a crucial element to address these issues and ensure meaningful integration of sensitive data and AI technologies into patient-centered healthcare arrangements. The workshop will result in a publication based on the position papers, the experiences of the participants and the discussions of the workshop. In order to achieve this, we look forward to receiving contributions that focus on (but are not limited to):

* Patient empowerment: How do we ensure meaningful participation that empowers patients? What kinds of participation are possible and meaningful? What methods do we need? How do we explain research to people who are not experts?
* Power balance: How do we address power dynamics in collaborative research? How to make project results, expectations, etc. visible?
* Dealing with AI-generated data and expectations: How do we manage expectations about AI-generated data? Building mutual understanding from the perspective of patients and project partners: How do we foster mutual understanding between patients and project partners?
* What are elements of supporting collaborative spaces?
* How to make opaque complex technologies understandable and discussable for all stakeholder groups?

We welcome participants willing to share:

* methodological reflections
* reflections and lessons learned of former case studies
* challenges and failure stories of former case studies
* ethical or political considerations
* philosophical or theoretical reflections

Based on these experiences and case studies, and inspired by praxeological research about participation, interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration, patient-centered innovation and empowerment, the integration of patient and non-patient perspectives, building mutual understanding and dealing with expectations, we would like to jointly develop a systematic approach for the co-design and transfer of telemedical innovations in healthcare systems into practice. The organizers will proactively ensure that the workshop is an interactive event with clear outcomes. For more details about the scope and structure of the workshop please see the workshop proposal available at the website.

SUBMISSION DETAILS
To participate in the workshop, you must submit a position paper. We encourage potential participants to explain their interest in the workshop and welcome position papers that address one or more of the workshop themes outlined above. Position papers are limited to 2 – 4 pages (excluding references) and must follow the respective ACM templates, which is available in Latex (Overleaf template), RTF, or MS Word format, and the SIGCHI Accessibility guidelines. The position paper should be submitted via Conftool. For questions, reach out to david.struzek@uni-siegen.de and tim.weiler@uni-siegen.de.

After submission, the papers will be reviewed by the organisers and selected based on their quality, innovation and relevance to the workshop topics. We expressly encourage both junior and senior researchers to submit position papers.
